Job Description

Job Overview
The individual in this position is responsible for developing and executing the IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery strategy of the Daimler North America Regional Data Center (NDC). Responsibilities also include developing, updating, and testing the Disaster Recovery Plans and recovery procedures to ensure NDC’s ability to recover critical business functions within defined time frame in the event of a major emergency or disaster.
 
 
Responsibilities
- The DR Specialist oversees the creation, development and maintenance of IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery plan and associate recovery procedures, ensuring they are actionable, accurate, and adhere to Daimler’s policies and standards
- Surveys the various business units to assess their needs and ensures that the IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Plan support the respective application/business recovery plans by performing business impact analyses and establishing Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
- Incorporates and regularly updates application/ business recovery objectives into the NDC’s IT Disaster Recovery Plan
- Reviews and updates Application Recovery Plans and procedures with NDC’s application recovery teams
- Establishes IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery testing plans and exercises
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts Disaster Recovery tests and exercises
- Reviews results, updates, and revises the Disaster Recovery Plan as required
- Responsible for ensuring manuals, configuration specifications, software specifications, written procedures or other information required for the execution of recovery processes are available and accurate
- Maintains a library of Disaster Recovery and emergency response procedures
- Performs tabletop exercises to support recovery plans
- Coordinate post-test issues resolution and respective meetings
- Prepare and deliver a post-test report detailing all successes and issues encountered and remediation
- Review changes in corporate resources with the management of those areas to assure the effectiveness of the recovery procedures
- Coordinate activities and execute the Disaster Recovery Plan in actual Disaster events.
- Work with vendors of disaster recovery services and facilities to ensure best practices are followed
- Advance the NDC Disaster Recovery program through adherence to the DR Policy, Standards, and best practices

Education
Bachelor's Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in
- Computer/Information Science
- Information Technology
- Engineering
- Management Information System (MIS)
 
Licenses/Certifications
- CBCP: Certified Business Continuity Professional
 
Must have 8+ years (total) of experience in the following:
- Knowledge of current Disaster Recovery Planning methodologies and technologies
- Knowledge of Business Continuity best practices and Business Impact Analysis (BIA) methodologies
- Expert knowledge of the Change Management process
- Define, plan, execute and organize IT Infrastructure Disaster Recovery Strategy/ Function
- Prepare comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plans, recovery procedures, test plans, post-test reports, and remediation plans
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and well-organized presentations to a wide variety of audiences having varying levels of technical knowledge including management
- Identify, clarify, and resolve IT Infrastructure  Disaster issues and risks
- Prioritize recovery of IT Systems
- Develop disaster recovery process for new IT implementations
- Project management
- Mainframe/Midrange recovery experience
- Disaster Recovery experience at the Enterprise level with next-generation cloud technologies within highly available, fully virtualized, and highly automated environment at scale - VMware, Red Hat, Microsoft, Cisco, etc.

- Requires valid driver’s license
- Must be able to work flexible hours/work schedule
- Work weekends and weekends when required
- Travel domestically and internationally
