YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Disease Phenotyping Scientist, are to: 

 

  • Identify opportunities for technical innovation in disease phenotyping;
  • Identify creative solutions and implementing improvements to automate and increase efficiency of disease assays and testing;
  • Design and analyze complex experiments with emphasis on phenotyping of new and existing vegetable product concepts;
  • Lead multiple complex scientific projects focusing on disease traits of commercial importance, as well as interdisciplinary and crosscultural project teams and collaborations;
  • Align research activities with team goals and broad business objectives;
  • Mentor peers, coach direct reports and extended team members in areas of technical expertise, developing employees on a day to day basis;
  • Recruit temporary and permanent personnel as necessary to advance business objectives and strengthen technology expertise.

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Ph.D. with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in plant pathology or related field OR a M.S. with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience in plant pathology or related field OR a B.S. with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in plant pathology or related field;
  • Background in experimental design and statistics;
  • Demonstrated creativity in problem solving and ability to lead change;
  • Outstanding analytical and communication skills;
  • Strong initiative and results orientation;
  • Experience in automated phenotyping and working knowledge of imaging, sensors or relevant technologies.
