Job Description
Primary Function: Eaton is seeking summer interns for its newly formed Distributed Energy Resource Management Solutions (DERMS) Center of Excellence (CoE). Eaton’s DERMS CoE accelerates the company’s growth by building advanced control algorithms and state machine logic for DERMS applications that are scalable, cost-effective, and manufacturable as well as standardized design methodologies that can be adopted by multiple businesses (e.g. UPS, microgrid controls, Energy storage, etc.), which provides a foundation for our business to more rapidly develop innovative energy products. These individuals will learn about Distributed Energy Resources (DER) control development, implementation, and validation for a wide spectrum of power conversion and protection products. They will also learn about model-based techniques, such as MATLAB Simulink and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing, during the design and validation on new products within the Eaton’s product portfolio. Essential Functions: Performs modeling and simulation for the electric grid, microgrid, and/or DER control development Implements, tests, and troubleshoots firmware and embedded Linux operating systems (OS) applications Plans and performs control algorithms and firmware development and validation in HIL lab Creates technical reports and presentations Learn about with the latest DER and microgrid technologies trends Fonction principale: Eaton est à la recherche de stagiaires d’été pour son nouveau centre d’excellence (CoE) Distributed Energy Resource Management Solutions (DERMS). No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 80km of Montreal, QC, Canada to be considered or reside locally within Montreal metro area. Enrolled at an accredited university in the Canada. Familiarity with MATLAB and scripting languages, such as Python. Research background in DER and grid controls. Access to transportation to Montreal downtown office. Preferred qualification: Some experience with Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) Real-time Simulation. knowledge of OPAL-RT Real-Time Simulation platform. Some experience with C/C++ programming.
