Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is hiring a District Operations Manager, Prairies to join our team. This position will be based out of Calgary or Edmonton, Canada. Position Overview: The District Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day field service business and personnel. In addition, this position will support the regional sales force in penetrating the regional markets through control of price and with an emphasis on value and service to the customer. Eaton’s Engineering Service & Systems division team brings extensive skills and experiences to field service engineering. We assist customers at every stage of the power system: offering start-up and commissioning of equipment, performing planned maintenance, monitoring performance, diagnosing system problems remotely, as well as responding to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. In this function you will: Act as sales and marketing agent in conjunction with sales and operations management to ensure top line sales and bottom line profit objectives are met. Provide strategic direction to identify and develop prospective new customers. Keep current on the trends and significant issues providing direction for the profit and strategic planning processes. Ensure the region maintains effective relationships with and service to internal and external customers. Facilitate teaming among districts within and across the regions to support multi-national customers and/or industries. Develop and manage the forwarding looking profit plan and monthly forecasts with accuracy so that the operation meets these numbers on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. Responsible for budgeting and procurement of capital equipment for the region, efficient execution of sales quotes, cost control, leveraging subcontractors, inventory management, managing receivables, and turn of backlog and projects. Works with credit department, resolves terms & condition issues with the contracts department, and work with collections. Annually develop strategic plan (5-10 year outlook) to determine growth and profit opportunities within the region. Assure an effective and skilled staff through recruiting, assessment of talent (find gaps and follow action plans to fill gaps), training & development, goal setting, communications, performance appraisal, and conformance to applicable company policies and standards. Provide leadership and direction to ensure professional growth for employees and retention within the region. Assure the safety of employees who work in low, medium, and high voltage work environments. Assures strict compliance with safety policies, develops and deploys safety programs, assures safety equipment resources are available and properly tested, provides direction for proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Effectively manages leadership team of diverse and dispersed field based workforce throughout assigned region. Demonstrates good corporate citizenship. Assures the security and effective allocation of company resources and assets. Key zone-level interface with customers, sales force, manufacturing plants, product division management, and functional support staff. Interfaces and coordinates with plants, business units, and outside vendors to procure parts and services for the assigned region. Develop and deploy product/process improvement initiatives and sharing of best practices throughout and across the regions. Qualifications Basic (Required) Qualifications: Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree required, preferably in electrical industry 7 years of experience in a service, sales or engineering role within the electrical industry Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license Legally authorized to work in the Canada without company sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of management experience in a related field. 5 years of Supervisory experience leading remote team members Knowledge of power distribution, control products, as well as field service practices and procedures, employee relations and quality programs. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and resolve complaints. Knowledge of electrical industry safety practices and regulatory electrical codes, standards and permits. Working knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment design, installation and maintenance including medium and low voltage power circuit breakers, metal-clad & enclosed switchgear, protective relaying and control, medium and low voltage control is a key asset. Broad understanding of market channel relationships and processes Developing and implementing growth plans and conducting competition/ market analysis to drive product development efforts. Experience in the development of incremental business opportunities in the Industrial, Utility, Government, and Institutional markets Position Criteria: Commercial / Business Acumen and Customer Focus Excellent communication skills Ability to impact and motivate others Conflict Management Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Good at Planning and organizing Excellent time management skills in managing workload and work schedules.
