Job Description
Eaton’s Controls & Protection Division has an opening for a Division Continuous Improvement manager. This individual will lead, coordinate, and drive the implementation of all relevant Eaton Business System (EBS) tools in the North America plants including Continuous improvement (Lean & Six Sigma) and cost out. This role will also mentor and coach plant leadership on Continuous Improvement tools and determine best practices and develop plans for cross group implementation using resources from the best practice facility. This critical role will partner with sites and businesses to identify, solve, and recommend possible solutions to unique situations or problems. This role will have the following responsibilities Lead the development of the Continuous Improvement focus and culture within NA operations, leveraging the plant, division and sector resources. Liaison with the Electrical Sector on Continuous Improvement initiatives. Develop a strategy and champion the initiative to best leverage ELSS plant resources. Mentor and coach plant leadership on adoption of Continuous Improvement approaches both in manufacturing and management Conduct annual Operational Excellence Assessments at each plant to monitor progress and identify best practices within the division. Share those best practices with other plants, Operational Excellence Staff and Eaton Groups. Monitor Cost Out performance at each plant and recommend opportunities for Cost Out projects to fill gap. Analyze key operational metrics related to both the Eaton Balanced Scorecard and customer systems and perform periodical reviews to evaluate results and establish action plans to close the gaps at an operational level Design and implement ELSS training programs for key personnel in conjunction with other managers in the organization and the plant lean coordinators. Conduct and / or coordinate training when appropriate. Should be able to train and lead Rapid Improvement Events (Kaizen) related to following tools TPM, A3 Problem Solving, VSM, 5S, Standard work, Six Sigma and Lean Material flow. Lead, facilitate, coach or support Needle Mover projects, Business Process Improvement (BPI) projects, including non-Cost-out CI projects and special or turn-around CI projects. Should have thorough knowledge of Continuous Improvement Framework (Daily Accountability, Gemba Walk etc) Assist the plants in attracting, developing and retaining talent within the Continuous Improvement competency to assist in building organizational capability Lead development and certification process of a CI training program Conduct ELSS reviews with the ELSS Managers at all locations responsible for to facilitate best practice sharing, lessons learned and roadblock removal to achieve targets. Develop and coordinate the integration of six sigma into the ELSS processes, including BPI, and assist in the implementation of the action plans. Maintain representation on the corporate six-sigma councils and drive certification requirements of both green and black belts to completion. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 7 Years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing Bachelor’s degree Spanish & English Language capability Other position criteria: Ability to travel at least 50% in both US, Dominican Republic & Mexico Deep understanding and teaching capability of Lean Tools and Philosophy Manufacturing process knowledge Understanding of finance Understanding of statistical tools and analysis Ability to influence without direct authority Ability to work collaboratively across divisions, groups and diverse team Ability to lead effectively and drive alignment across a complex global matrixed environment Deep understanding of the relationship between Lean, Quality and Safety for continuous improvement needs Experience driving enterprise-wide scale change effort What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
