Eaton’s Electrical sector is currently seeking an Engineering Drafter to join our team. This position will be based in our Santa Ana, CA facility. Position Overview: This position will assist the engineering team in implementing engineering projects and sales order configurations into PDI’s materials requirement planning (MRP) system. The duties include finalizing engineering documentation, creating assembly drawings, fixing redline drawings, part number creation, and Bill of Materials (BOM) Management. In this function, you will: Prepare clear, complete, and accurate product, tooling and equipment drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for engineering or manufacturing purposes, according to specified dimensions using Solidworks Create and submit document change orders to properly document all drawings prepared. Draw finished designs from engineer’s sketches or from other engineering documentation. Use understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with Engineering terminology. Utilize knowledge of various drafting packages and software to complete drawings. Work as a member of a design team, cooperating with the team leader and with management in an effective manner to perform job. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve mechanical system malfunctions, and provide technical information. Recommend design modifications to eliminate mechanical system malfunctions. Create and maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs concepts, tool drawings and shop orders in coordination with the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing functions. Inspect designs as requested to verify conformance to specifications. Recommend measures to improve production methods and quality of product Maintain good housekeeping and safe and healthful working conditions in assigned areas. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations, especially in engineering and test areas, as established by Company policy. Work with production team to find more efficient methods of producing work. Participate in activities pertaining to Safety Program. Ensure that all regulatory and internal policies are followed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic Requirements: Minimum high school diploma from an accredited institution. Minimum one (1) year experience in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Drafting Preferred Requirements: Two years’ experience as a CAD Drafter. Associate degree or certificate in Computer Aided Design (CAD) or other Drafting and/or Engineering Technology program Experience in Finite Element Analysis focused on stress and thermal properties preferred.
