The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center. Every new vehicle must also be designed to meet stringent Mercedes-Benz standards for durability. The Testing & Regulatory Affairs Division ensures that all standards and requirements are met for the US market. Testing locations in the Long Beach, California and Ann Arbor, Michigan also function as liaisons to both Mercedes-Benz in Germany and to government regulatory bodies in the US, including the Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resource Board.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Support the testing and development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for the North American Market
• Participate in and support local driver assistance system testing
• Research US traffic environment to translate differences into implications for regional driver assistance system adaption
• Support AV permitting participation
• Research and benchmarking of competitors
• Data analysis and report generation
• Updating and troubleshooting test vehicles and measurement systems
• Work on independent projects to identify and execute process changes for continuous improvement
• Work with various departments such as R&D workshop, Emissions Laboratory, Powertrain Support, Car Clinic, and E/E Integration
Required Qualifications
- Minimum level of education required and required field of study:
- Current student pursuing degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics
- Minimum completion of junior year required
- Experience within MBRDNA or Daimler a plus
- Preference will be given to applicants that indicate a desired internship duration of 6 months. However, applicants indicating an internship duration of only 3 months will also be considered.
- Minimum skills required :
• Proficiency in MS Office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint require
• Basic technical vehicle and driver assistance system knowledge required
• Must be comfortable in a small team environment performing many different tasks
- Will accept equivalent work experience in lieu of formal education: N/A
- Other licenses or certifications required :
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications: German language skills a plus
