Job Description

About Astrazeneca and GBS

Today, we are pleased to announce a significant milestone against our strategic objectives with the creation of a Global Business Services (GBS) Organisation within AstraZeneca.

Shared services is the consolidation of business operations that are used by multiple parts of the same organisation. We are continuing to drive simplification and standardisation through centralisation in shared services of back-office, and some middle-office activities that are currently performed in some of our Enabling Units including Finance, HR, Procurement, IT.

Instead of operating numerous shared services centres and managing outsourced vendors independently, the GBS organisation will, over time, provide integration of governance, locations and business practices to all shared services and outsourcing activities across the business. Implementing a GBS model will improve the sharing of information and best practices, enhance service quality and allow for significant cost savings to be achieved over and above what could be achieved through other approaches. We are excited about the creation of GBS because of the opportunity it provides us to simplify and standardise the way we deliver important business services across the organisation. Both will be important as we work together across the enterprise to return to growth and achieve our Bold Ambition. During the coming months, we will be assessing opportunities for where work could be best delivered from the GBS organisation, and we look forward to sharing more information around what this means for Finance, HR, Procurement and IT as our plans progress.
