Job Description
An EDI specialist, or Electronic Data Interchange specialist, is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of all EDI-related processes in a company or organization. Their expertise lies in data exchange and they have to develop and improve ways on how to securely receive and transfer data to and from different trading partners. Specifically, an EDI specialist is tasked with continuously checking the quality of EDI programs and applications, enhancing processes relating to electronic data interchange, and ensuring that processes are customized to flow within a company's business system. An EDI specialist is expected to be a great communicator, analytical thinker, and problem-solver. They have to update their technical knowledge regularly and research current technology trends relating to their line of work. To be qualified for the job, an EDI specialist is required to have at least a Bachelor's or Graduate's degree in business, computer science, information systems or information technology, or equivalent experience. They will also be preferred if they have at least two years of hands-on experience working with EDI technologies. EDI SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES Tasks and responsibilities expected from an EDI specialist: Designing and developing a system for the exchange of information Maintain knowledge of existing and emerging regulatory changes and how they impact operational processes and beyond Research applicable regulations and guidance Implementing EDI solutions Setting up systems for new trading partners Updating and improving interactions with existing trading partners Using EDI mapping tools and cross-reference tables Designs, codes, tests, and debugs programs Works with APIs and applications consuming APIs Analyze user requirements and propose IT solutions based on knowledge of existing infrastructure Maintaining accurate records of transactions Monitoring daily electronic information exchange and alerting issues Reducing the risk of system errors Identify trends or problems and offer solutions for resolution and/ or prevention Formulate a plan of action and report and present findings and make recommendations for closing any gaps that may be identified Work on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role Prepare management reports communicate, project status, critical issues and potential pitfalls Ensure new development project and strategic initiatives that influence the technical investment of the platform conform to architectural standards Skills required for an EDI specialist: A cross-divisional understanding of IT and relevant various business units Working knowledge of EDI translation software packages Understanding of EDI transaction sets Experience with applicable software and systems including SQL Server and FTP General knowledge of networking protocols and web architecture Solid understanding of EDI standards and practices – EDIFACT, XML Strong communication and organizational talent An independent, structured and responsible way of working Expertise in data mapping and organization Basic understanding of relational database structures – SQL, Oracle databases Rest API, UNIX shell scripting, Linux, PERL Proficient in Microsoft Office, EDI comprehension, and Internet-based product navigation Comfortable making decisions and providing solutions to problems to team and superiors Experience with enterprise resource planning and business process analysis Skilled at requirements gathering, problem analysis and problem solving Basic wage component (gross) and other rewards : starting from 2000 EUR brutto /month + VAR* *We are required by law to disclose basic wage component (minimum salary) for the advertised positions.
