This is an EDP manager role reporting to the Local Product Group Manager in the Business Area - Robotics & Discrete Automation located in Shanghai, China. You will be responsible for setting up and driving a Customer Centric Engineering Delivery Platform (EDP) in China, serving Local Business Lines (LBLs). Drives the local service catalogue development together with LBLs in collaboration with other EDP locations, improve customer technical support for applications, pool and deploy resources for operating efficiency, quality and productivity through standardized business-critical processes and modularization/productized solutions. You will be directly accountable for leading the EDP China to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations, utilizing visual management, lean and continuous improvement techniques.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensuring Health, Safety and Integrity as a license to operate with adequate processes and controls and drives Sustainability across all dimensions of EDP China.
  • Setting and delivering on targets to serve differentiated customer requirements across our BLs/LBLs. Key focus on Customer Quality Experience, Delivery Agility, Product and Application, Engineering service Cost Competitiveness, Net Working Capital and Productivity both in serial product, application and new product development phases.
  • Driving productivity increase in order to continuously reduce cost associated with direct and indirect labor, materials and waste and promotes implementation of continuous improvement projects on-site to boost operational efficiency. Leading a team of Functional Managers, developing a customer centric and continuous improvement culture.
  • Managing interfaces with BLs R&D, Finance, IS/IT, Customer Service, Product Management and Sales & Marketing Departments to coordinate the production process for the introduction of new products, applications, function packages and ongoing production.
  • Defining performance through the eyes of external customers through a seamless collaboration with the BLs/LBLs and served countries and as such builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • As a key member of the Global EDP Management Team, contributing to the EDP Strategy and its execution for a world-class end-to-end order execution process in tight collaboration with peers from other factories and global functional managers.
  • Ensuring adequate hands-on performance monitoring and reporting to steer performance. With support from HR, constantly driving people and organization development nurturing talents, engaging and motivating teams within a collaborative environment.

Your background

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Operations/Supply Chain Management or similar.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience from working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities, proven and strong leadership, good communication, influencing and coaching skills to develop a truly customer centric culture.
  • Ability to drive change and accountability in a fact-based, international matrix organization.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for cost-efficiently improving engineering, manufacturing operations and to swiftly resolve complex problems.
  • Fluency in Mandarin & English and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Flexible for travelling inside of China and occasionally internationally.
