Job Description
Develops, implements and monitors company safety programs and policies. Ensures compliance with government health and safety regulations. Conducts
employee training in emergency response, life safety, industrial hygiene, and chemical and fire hazards. Conducts safety surveys and recommends corrective action where occupational hazards exist. Responds to emergencies and investigates accidents and recommends corrective action. Completes required federal, state and local government reports relating to safety.

The Safety, Health and Environmental Specialist , will be primarily responsible for the implementation of EHS programs at CMC’s manufacturing facility located at Kaohsiung in Taiwan, which will include ensuring compliance with both Taiwan regulations and CMC Global EHS policies and driving continuous improvement. The EHS Specialist will provide technical support to both the slurry manufacturing team and PAD manufacturing team when needed.
The key duties or activities of the site Safety, Health and Environmental Specialist are as follows:
- Drive and coordinate the implementation/ maintenance of CMC EHS Elements program.
- Maintain current knowledge of local EHS laws and regulations and ensure site compliance.
- Ensure compliance with CMC internal requirements.
- Support EHS interactions with key customers when required.
- Facilitate the functioning of the site EHS Committee to promote and achieve a safe workplace.
- Lead injury prevention activities.
- Conduct new employee EHS orientation training
- Coordinate intranet-based EHS training for employees and other on-site EHS training.
- Support safety training of contractors before commencement of contract works.
- Facilitate risk assessment of all hazardous tasks to be undertaken by contractors or employees.
- Encourage near-miss reporting, coordinate/support incident investigation and facilitate return to work.
- Administer the internet-based corrective actions tracking system (Process Map) to achieve timely closure of actions.
- Prepare monthly EHS reports.
- Lead hazard reviews of capital equipment or facility (AFE’s).
- Coordinate annual emergency drills.
- Act as the emergency response coordinator. Prepare and update response plan.
- Review, update and audit site EHS Elements programs (e.g. LOTO, contractor safety, PPE, safety equipment inspections, etc.)
- Conducting regulatory compliance audits.
- Industrial hygiene – ensure required IH monitoring is carried out to ensure the occupational health of employees.
- Waste Management Program – ensure proper collection and disposal of wastes.
- Implement Corporate EMS Goals (Waste Reduction / Waste Minimization).
- Support day-to-day EHS issues and compliance.
- Coordinate EHS promotional activity.
- Lead continuous improvement teams.
- Engaging managers and employees in the EHS processes.
