The Siemens Large Drives business in New Kensington, PA, has an opportunity for a professional EMC/EMI Test Engineer to join our Research & Development Team! "Are you ready to be the EMC/EMI expert for a company who makes medium voltage variable frequency drives?" Position Overview The position will be the primary expert for EMC/EMI testing and will work directly with Hardware and Systems development groups to create better EMC/EMI designs. Testing will include EMC/EMI on component, sub-assembly, and system level to applicable IEC standards, troubleshooting both EMI/EMC and board related problems, training technicians in EMC/EMI testing. May work with hardware and software design to perform fault insertion tests or development tests of prototype products. The EMC/EMI Test Engineer reports to the Director of Product Compliance and Testing supporting R&D and manufacturing at 5 global locations and works directly with the PC&T team. Responsibilities: Performs EMC/EMI tests, create and maintain test procedures, and builds test set ups. Participates in software, hardware, and system test development and execution. Participates in hardware and system design. Preparing reports and analyzing technical issues. Review’s standards, specifications, and other documents to support implementation of tests. Able to write design documents, test procedures and test reports. Needs to tackle assigned, non-routine tasks, to contribute to projects or assignments, or to support development of guidelines, methods, tools, or business processes. Independently performs of tasks and functions is a must. Seeks advice and mentorship from others on non-routine or problem areas as the need arises. Participates in quality and process improvements. Ability to participate and adhere to project schedules and requirements. Requirements Education: BSEE 3 to 7 years of successful experience in a EMC/EMI test role. Proficient use of typical electronics laboratory equipment and all forms of EMC/EMI test equipment. Able to read schematics and find nodes on test boards Capable of improving test efficiency through learning and automation Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and collaboration skills. Understanding and adherence to practices defined in IEC 61800-3 and related IEC EMC/EMI standards is a plus. Familiarity with embedded systems - including PLCs and I/O modules is a plus Familiarity with programming in C# and Visual Studio is a plus. <5% domestic or international travel.
