In this position, you support the e-Mobility Group (EMG) with purchasing expertise to negotiate with and build relationships with suppliers to support the global engineering efforts of EMG. This is an emerging, exciting technology, and the right person will drive DTNA’s success by helping our engineering department, customers and network adopt electrified commercial vehicles into their operations.
Responsibilities
- As a buyer for electric vehicle components you have responsibility for the strategic direction of your commodities in a highly dynamic market environment
- Negotiate or renew supplier agreements to purchase critical materials, parts components, tooling or services for DTNA production
- Primary commodity area: Electric vehicle components sourcing
- Manage supplier relationships, including long term strategic partnerships with commitments for preferred production pricing to differentiate DTNA in the marketplace
- Drive the development of local and global commodity strategies covering both production and aftermarket requirements.
- Attend global workshops in the US, Europe or Asia as needed
- Evaluate alternative materials, methods, technologies and suitable suppliers as necessary to bring best in-class product offerings and cost structure for DTNA
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams for new product introductions, continuous cost improvement, and engineering, supply management or warranty problem-solving initiatives
- Work with suppliers to achieve DTNA cost goals, long term agreements and possible exclusivity of innovative products and services
- Local support of Lead Buy commodity area: Potentially for electric vehicle components as well as Global Module Strategy
