Job Description:
This position will be working on the Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) for new upcoming datacenter projects.
The role involves setup and commissioning of new electrical equipment that will be appended to existing/new datacenters. Responsibilities include new device setup, additions/updates to EPMS software and commissioning support. The position will support and get direction from the senior EPMS engineer assigned to a specific datacenter project. The support will include edit/create new graphics using the epms software, update existing system or support onsite during commissioning when needed.

Key responsibilities:
Roles and Responsibilities: The EPMS controls Engineer will be responsible to support the senior engineer with the hardware configuration, communication setup and testing of EPMS for additions to electrical power systems in MS datacenters. Projects include addition of new hardware within existing/new facilities, containerized datacenters and other datacenter modifications. Create new or update existing EPMS software configuration, database, graphics, alarming and notification for the new devices. The controls engineer will take direction from the senior engineer and will gain experience needed within the datacenters field.
Design drawings are provided by the EPMS design team, which will detail the equipment, network, devices and IP addresses needed to configure the system. The controls Engineer will create the device list, IP list, coordinate with Contractors and Commissioning Agents in development of commissioning test scripts to ensure EPMS activities are accounted for. Review electrical manufacturer shop drawings and create epms submittal. On site activities will be as described in commissioning test scripts and the Microsoft Datacenter Commissioning Plan of Record (CxPoR) which includes support L2 through L5 Cx activities.
The Senior ssary, and provide all start-up/testing and final closeout documents for each piece of equipment during closeout of the project and prior to turnover to operations.
Qualifications
Knowledge, experience and skills:
The ideal candidate will be an instrumentation and controls engineer with leadership experience in electrical power monitoring systems for Data Centers. A team player able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team implementing EPMS in Microsoft Data Centers globally and possess the skills to work in a fast-paced multi-project environment. Ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the network topologies and communication protocols associated with EPMS systems and related networks and has a firm understanding of electrical power distribution and monitoring requirements for mission critical applications. Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excel at project management, be able to multitask and be familiar with advanced engineering and energy efficient operational processes/procedures as they relate to large data center environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) implementation and support.
- SCADA implementation and instrumentation field setup.
- Expert in troubleshooting communication issues and setting up EPMS devices.
- Expert in HMI development in EPMS like Schneider SCADA PSO and PME, Eaton Foreseer, etc.
- Working experience in Datacenters.
- DCIM implementation and support.
- Mission Critical facility networking.
- Organizational and communication experience.
- Working knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment.
- Networking knowledge.
- Experience working independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
- Willingness and ability to travel globally.
Preferred, not required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline.
- Expert in EPMS device setup and SCADA implementations.
- Working knowledge of EPMS and Building Management Systems.
- Experience with Modbus, BACnet, IEC61850, OPC UA, and/or SNMP communication protocols.
Describe the ideal candidate (optional)
The ideal candidate will have experience in a team environment, experience running and designing enterprise scale services and platforms, technical depth in cloud platforms, agile development practices, and experience in designing & tuning telemetry. In addition, this position requires an individual who can demonstrate the ability to ensure highly resilient and scalable service designs through partnership with other members of the service team.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.
