Job Description
We are recruiting for a full-time junior ESL lecturer position at a new STEM university in Ningbo, China: Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT). EIT is a Chinese EMI (English-medium instruction) institution.
We are looking for pleasant, optimistic, people-oriented instructors who plan to build careers in education and are enthused by the idea of working on a gorgeous new campus with energetic students. We welcome new instructors who already have experience and certification, as well as those who are eager to complete appropriate training.
Ideally, candidates will have a recent master’s degree and 2+ years of experience in higher education. A CELTA or a substantial 120-hour TESOL certificate is preferred. We will also consider candidates with a bachelor’s degree plus one or more of the following:
At least 2 years of full-time English teaching experience, or
A teaching certification from their home country, or
A 120-hour TESOL certificate.
Other preferred qualifications include experience teaching in China, an interest in Chinese culture and language, and strong intercultural communication skills or a strong interest in developing them further.
Teaching will follow a shared curriculum that aligns weekly lessons across sections and instructors. In the initial phase, most students will be first- and second-year undergraduates studying general and academic English, with a focus on speaking and listening, as well as foundations in academic speaking, listening, writing, reading, and the Academic Word List (AWL).
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and comparable to those at similar Chinese institutions.
