Job Description
Working Hours
The Teacher will be required to work up to 35 hours per week, 24 hours will be teaching hours and 11 office hours. The teaching and office hours can be interchangeable according to the needs of the school.
2 Scheduling of working hours
The Teacher's working hours will be scheduled in between 8:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Sunday. The Teacher will have 2 rest days per week. The School will try to schedule the 2 rest days to be consecutive whenever possible.
Each class's and grade's course time will be made known as early as possible at the start of the teaching week, but the School reserves the right to adjust the classes, courses and time and so forth.
3 Working Place
Within school campus, outside school campus and any school organized indoor and outdoor activities.
4 Main Responsibilities
• The Teacher shall work to the best of his/her abilities to teach his/her students English as efficiently as possible and within the general goals and guidelines set forth by the School.
• The Teacher will familiarize him/herself with the School’s policies, programs and curriculum and attempt to meet the general timetable outlined by the School.
• The Teacher is responsible for imparting good values and cultivating good behaviour in his/her students during his/her scheduled class hours, including break time.
Demonstration (Demo) Classes
• Demo classes such as English corner and other teaching class or activity may be carried out within or outside School campus.
• The Teacher should exude positive energy and enthusiasm for teaching.
• Collaboration and cooperation between the School's marketing and consultancy departments are essential for conducting successful demonstration classes.
• Before class, ask the marketing department to know the age and English learning background of your prospective students. Choose appropriate demo lesson plan and be familiar with its related smart board usage before teaching starts.
• After class, ask for feedback on the response of the students and parents from the two departments, so as to make timely adjustment: correct existing problems and improve on the quality of demo teaching.
Lesson Planning
• The Teacher's lesson plan must be based on the syllabus chosen by the School and in accordance to the School's directive.
• To review and finalize lesson plans in accordance to the School's directive.
• To add new elements to the finalized lesson plan from time to time as required.
Before Class
15 minutes before class starts, the Teacher and Chinese Teacher (CT) must be in class to prepare the teaching material and arrange the necessary chairs for the students.
10 minutes before class starts, the Teacher and CT are to receive their students at the reception and lead them to class in an orderly manner.
Teaching Attitude
Radiate positive energy.
Create a friendly and encouraging learning environment.
Remind students of proper manners and treat every student equally, kindly and with patience.
Recording
Follow the School's directive on periodic recording of your class to submit to the School for evaluation. The Teacher may request for help from the School in the setting up of recording apparatus.
Break Time
The Teacher and CT should work together to make sure all the students go to the washroom at the same time and return to the classroom together. When all the students are back, the Teacher and CT can rest in turns, but at no time should the students be left alone in class without a teacher in sight.
After Class
CT is responsible for giving feedback to the students' parents with regards to their conduct, level of attention, understanding and participation in class. The Teacher is responsible to switch off all electric apparatus in class, e.g. lights, air-conditioning, smart board etc. The Teacher should always be friendly and courteous towards parents, and after short greetings, to return to the staff room for rest.
Depending on the students' age and English level, the Teacher can recommend audio, video or reading materials to our students for after class self-study.
