Eaton Corporation is currently seeking an Embedded Hardware and Software Design Engineering Intern to join our team on the interim basis. As an Embedded Hardware and Software Design Engineer at Eaton you will have the exciting opportunity to work on embedded electronics that controls power distribution units and electric drives and associated actuation systems in the Aerospace markets including eVTOLs (electrical vertical take-off and landing) and space aircrafts/vehicles. The engineer will research, develop, design, implement, test, and evaluate firmware and software solutions in conjunction with hardware product development. Your efforts will result in a high value integrated electronics that provide our customers with competitive advantage in their products and markets. This work will help ATIG (advanced technology and innovation) group to accelerate our electrification strategy related to electrified aircrafts. In this role the candidate will: Design and schematics capture of embedded hardware solutions using PCB Layout for Aerospace Controller Applications using Altium. PCB Design FPGA or DSP based next generation controller platform that will be used as general control platform for Aerospace line of products. Perform Circuit Analysis of basic building blocks of the controller such as: AD Converters, DA Converters, Operational Amplifiers, DC/DC converters and other analog and digital circuits. Support other engineers in design reviews, documentation and hardware requirements capture. Execute validation tests for both hardware and software revisions. Work closely with embedded software and firmware engineers to specify and develop board support packages and maintain legacy design. Generate product BOM and help build prototype units. Validate/test hardware and debug issues. Develop automated test tools using scripting and Python. Design, develop, test and debug leading-edge digital system hardware for embedded modules and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment. Participate in design and design review of the broader design team. Document designs and support hardware design verification tests. The candidate will demonstrate exceptional impact in delivering projects in terms of architecture, technical deliverables, and project delivery throughout the project lifecycle. Have some exposure in embedded software developer with some experience of different boards, microprocessors, test equipment, DSP etc. Have some basic programing skill in several languages (mostly VHDL and/or C/C++). Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree program in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, software engineering, applied mathematics or physics from an accredited institution. Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (please do not round). Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship. Minimum of one internship or co-op experience completed at the time of this application. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with all aspects of board development, schematic design, layout, production, and manufacturing processes, generation of drawing packages and other technical documentation. Experience designing hardware systems/products. Demonstrated robust analytical thinking skills to investigate and resolve technical issues. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware development life cycle. Hands-on PCB Schematics and Layout knowledge. Analog circuit simulation. Basics of VHDL programming. Experience with Altium Designer, MATLAB and PSPICE. Some software development skills in Python, MATLAB and/or other programming languages.
