Are you ready? Position Overview: Eaton’s Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) Division is one of the largest and most experienced teams of power professionals in the industry. The Strategic Operations Engineer Internship program includes opportunities to join various businesses within our division. Strategic Operations Engineering assignments will provide you with the opportunity to act as a resource for project managers, sales, contracts, finance, and our customers. Switchgear Modernization Engineering assignments offer a host of solutions for aging power systems to extend the useful life of electrical power systems. These range from reconditioning to equipment replacement and additions to existing systems that improve reliability and safety. The Strategic Operations Engineer Internship will provide the Mission Critical, Strategic Programs and Strategic Account Operations teams with consistent and intimate support in managing their projects. This position is responsible for project cost tracking, ongoing cost estimate validation, project schedule development/maintenance, creation of purchase requisitions, material and equipment tracking, subcontractor/vendor requests for pricing, submittal generation/oversight, document control, and warranty support. The Switchgear Modernization Engineer Intern will assist with the layout and design of custom solutions for metal enclosed and metal-clad switchgear components for low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) applications to meet customer specifications and industry standards. This individual must be capable of self-management and will work as part of a cross-functional team to help develop specifications, bill of materials, mechanical and/or electrical design layouts, assembly and detail drawings and models utilizing AutoDesk Inventor or equivalent software. You will consult with other engineers, manufacturing, marketing and supply chain when required to assist with solving problems. This individual will help identify and meet project schedules and budgets; interpret customer requirements, identify and address design parameters and engineering problems; and ensure solutions are implemented accurately and within budget. In addition, you will participate in assembly, design testing and documentation of life extension solutions. This internship will help prepare you for both technical and future leadership roles at Eaton. As an intern, you will be provided with a structured training and development curriculum; a blend of instructor-led, virtual classrooms, eLearning courses, and on-the-job training provided by expert mentors and team members to assist you in developing your career. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in engineering with a focus in electrical, computer, mechanical, mechatronics, industrial or systems from an accredited institution Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future Geographic flexibility to relocate within the United States for the duration of the Internship Program Preferred Qualifications: Overall cumulative GPA of a 3.2 or higher Prior internship or co-op experience Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or community Experience in project management, engineering, sales, or support experience in electrical assemblies, electrical distribution and power protection technology Training and/or experience working with AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Pro-E, or Solidworks; Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform mechanical assembly/functional test; Ability to read engineering drawings of complex assemblies and detail components; Ability to use precision measurement tools and layout techniques (Switchgear Modernization role) Position Criteria: Strong analytical, computer, writing and presentation skills Up to 10% travel required Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the company’s safety program Transportation to and from the worksite and for incidental business travel is the responsibility of the intern; however, expenses for required and approved business travel (not including the worksite) will be reimbursed The summer internship culminates with a formal presentation where students showcase their success stories to leaders of the organization and receive feedback on their performance Participant must be willing to relocate to one of the following locations: Raleigh, NC; Warrendale, PA; Greenwood, SC; or Houston, TX Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The salary for this role is $775.38-969.23 a week.
