We are currently seeking an Edge WAN Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services organization. The candidate can be based out of any Eaton facility in the United States. Position Overview: This role will be focused on designing, building, delivering, and maintaining WAN solutions to address business and technical requirements, leveraging industry and standard principles and patterns. Potential candidates should have strong knowledge of Cisco/Velo WAN/SD-WAN/LAN technologies and experience not only maintaining- but designing WAN solutions. In this function you will: Designs, builds, delivers, and maintains WAN solutions to meet customer requirements, and leads overall efforts in working with cross-functional teams. Implements processes, standards, and governance of wide area network environments. Provides subject matter expertise and leadership of network technologies contributing to integrated solution designs, development, and implementation. Evaluates industry technologies to shape design of services in consideration of cost, portability, compatibility, or usability factors. Identifies and makes appropriate changes to technologies, integrated platforms, and systems to meet customer and operational requirements. Monitors Wide Area Networks and WAN hardware to ensure required performance, availability, and capacity. Eliminates gaps in monitoring, reduces potential impact on service delivery, and proposes new key performance metrics. Performs service restoration for the WAN as required. As a senior WAN engineer, candidate will provide escalated level support for occurrences of service interruption working with 3rd party partners and Eaton internal support staff. Continuously seeks to manage and utilize technology, platforms, and systems more efficiently. Highlights design risks, provide alternative options, and recommend quality solution to specified problem. Strong ability to document and set standards. Evaluates, tests, and proposes new WAN solutions and designs. Mentors, guides, and influences others, acting as a technology thought leader. Participates as an SME on WAN projects up to an enterprise-level deployment. Sets project implementation approach for team, customer, and external supplier activities and deliverables. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: High school diploma required. A minimum of 7 years of IT Network experience. No relocation is provided for this position. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of any Eaton location in the United States to be considered for this opportunity. Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States on a continuous basis without company sponsorship. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred Qualifications: Cisco CCNP/CCIE highly preferred. SD-WAN certifications with Tier-1 vendors such as Velocloud/Viptella highly preferred. Experience working for or directly with telecommunications Service Providers highly preferred. Bachelors or Associates degree from an accredited institution required. Position Criteria: Experience in Cisco network centric LAN & WAN environments: Very experienced in designing, supporting, and delivering complex Layer 3 connectivity concepts and solutions. Experience engineering, delivering, and supporting Cisco IOS and IOS-XE based routing platforms (ISR, ISRG2, ISR4K, ASR). Strong knowledge of complex network routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. Thorough comprehension of Layer 3 QoS concepts. Strong work history of designing and maintaining MPLS WAN environments. Experience in delivery and configuration of WAN solutions such as DMVPN, IPsec, IWAN. Experience Designing, deploying, and maintaining SD-WAN solutions such as VeloCloud, Viptella, Silverpeak. Experience with WAN environments utilizing Zscaler technologies highly preferred. Experience interfacing with Cloud solutions such as Azure, AWS, O365. Experience with WAN acceleration technologies such as Riverbed. Excellent proficiency with the English language (written and verbal). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
