Job Description
eChinacities.com is currently recruiting one intern to join the editorial team in our Beijing office. Our editor’s are multi-skilled individuals who do a whole lot more than just editing articles. The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker but with strong Chinese to English translation skills – generating content by translating articles, quirky stories, news and event info will be a major part of your job. Interns will also be expected to write articles, blogs and other content for the site, as well as edit, proofread and polish content.

This internship is a great foot in the door for those interested in pursuing a career in online media or translating. The internship will hone your translating, writing and editing skills, and will also bring you up to date on popular stories, trends, Chinese blogs, news and social networking sites.

We’re looking for someone who can:
- Identify and generate interesting, original, SEO friendly content for the website and meet KPI targets
- Edit, polish, proofread, write, review and assess content
- Translate news, events, China media articles and weird news from Chinese to English
- Work closely with the editing and tech team to promote user participation and to increase traffic
- Manage social media advertising on Western and Chinese websites
- Identify issues and trends in the social media space in China

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Native English speaker
- Proficient in Mandarin with excellent Chinese to English translation skills
- A minimum one year of living experiences in China, preferably in Beijing
- University degree
- Outstanding skills in written and spoken English
- Excellent communication skills
- IT skills and keen interest in the web highly desirable
- Keen interest in local culture and entertainment
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Experience and/or qualifications in journalism preferred
