Editor, AmCham Shanghai
AmCham Shanghai is seeking an editor for its publications department. The role is varied and includes writing articles for Insight, the Chamber’s bi-monthly magazine; contributing to the research and writing of our Viewpoints, a series of reports into different industry sectors; crafting, writing and editing mini-surveys on topical subjects affecting the U.S. business community; and helping to write and edit our annual business climate survey, otherwise known as the China Business Report. A passion for podcasting would also help.
In addition to the broad tasks outlined above, candidates would be expected to:
- Write, pitch ideas and edit articles for Insight, the Chamber’s bi-monthly periodical
- Contribute to the Chamber’s Weekly Briefing newsletter, a weekly round-up of important business and government news
- Edit copy from our government relations, committees and marketing departments, as well as our Nanjing and Suzhou offices
- Play a key role in the production of the annual China Business Report – from crafting survey questions and overseeing the survey process to writing, editing and assisting in the design of the report
- Attend important Chamber events and produce timely summaries
- Produce and host China Voices, our bi-weekly podcast series
Qualifications Needed
- Strong editing skills for various documents passed through Communications and Publications (C&P) before publication
- Strong social media strategy skills
- Understanding of the China-U.S. economic relationship
- Ability to work well in a small team, as well as with individuals from different departments
- An understanding of LinkedIn, WeChat and other platforms used by the business community in China
- Native-level English
Preferred Candidates
Candidates with a background in journalism or writing are preferred. Candidates with degrees in international relations, East Asian studies or economics are also of special interest.
