Eaton’s Assemblies & Residential Solutions (ARS) Group is currently seeking an Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure System Architect to join our Connected Solutions team. This position is based at our Peachtree City, GA facility or can be based remotely. All candidates must currently reside within the United States and must work out of a United States remote location. Relocation benefits and sponsorship will be provided for those interested within the United States only. Position Overview: Connected Solutions is expanding its portfolio of AC Chargers for Electric Vehicles in the North American region and we’re looking for experienced talent who can help lead the architecture development, design, testing, system integration and certification of our expanding range of EV charging units. The Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure team develops electronic hardware, firmware, software, APIs and applications to enable innovative solutions. The EVCI System Integration Engineer works with the engineering, marketing, customers, sales and business development teams to conceptualize the application and integration of Eaton’s EV Charger solutions as part of Eaton’s and our customer’s systems. This individual will act as a bridge between external and internal technical team, and third-party technology providers by bringing together seamlessly integrated electric vehicle charging solutions which solve key customer problems. In this function you will: Develop EV AC charger architectures and lead system integration including internal and external elements into comprehensive commercial solutions. Lead Cybersecurity process from engineering perspective for EV chargers systems. Participate in development, testing and certification for architecture elements of Eaton’s EV charging systems. Understand & Develop EVCI related protocol messaging such as OCPP, ISO15118. Provide pre-sales technical support for customers: work with internal Eaton teams and third-party technology providers to identify customer business challenges, facilitate requirements gathering sessions, architecture presentations, product feature descriptions and value propositions, and software solution demos – effectively, creating an alignment across the EVCI value-chain. Work with the technical sales consultants, business development managers and proposals team within the region, to develop optimal EV charger infra-structure solution for key stakeholders: Respond to technical RFP documents, put together solution requirements and design, system customization and configuration, align offerings and ultimately be the technical point of contact for maintaining the solution roadmap. Help Business Development Manager & North American Sales team with existing and new product architecture and strategy, to bring in Eaton content and grow hardware & software revenue in the EVCI space. Provides technical and sales consulting, support for major account opportunities. Stay current with latest technologies and regulatory standards in relation to utility demand management & DER integration as well as Electric Vehicle Charging. Work closely with Eaton’s core engineering faculties (Electrical, Mechanical and Software) to synchronize product design and manufacturing efforts with established and new system architectures. Identify & communicate risks related to the design, development, implementation, and support of the EV charger subsystems and/or its integration with other systems/subsystems; works with the team to prioritize, develop and execute mitigations & contingency plans. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic, Computer Engineering/Technology or Computer Science from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years experience in developing and deploying platforms of cloud connected, scalable and reliable system architectures for IoT products, power management products and/or EV chargers. Minimum of two (2) years experience in software development in any high level language or script (C/C++, Java, Python or Linux Shell). Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering/Technology from an accredited institution. Minimum of give (5) years system level design experience; developing and translating business use cases to solution requirements and architecture documentation. Experience in development & deployment of DER (distributed energy resource) systems, microgrid systems, EV Charging. Experience in cloud server implementation for IoT product. Position Success Criteria: Ability to teach technical plus product concepts and to convey complex topics appropriately tailored to the audience type. Knowledge of security concepts such as encryption, certificates, and key management, penetration testing and software code compliance. Thorough understanding of the product development process with the ability to balance/manage commercial expectations and project timelines. Strong engagement with associated product standard bodies such as SAE, UL, IEC & NEC. Ability to lead charging infrastructure related protocol messaging design & testing. Ability to clearly communicate internally and externally. Build long term relationships and grow influence. Complex problem-solving skills in a highly matrixed organization.
