Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reporting to the DTDT Engineering Manager, the Dry-Type Transformer Design Engineer will be responsible for executing new product development projects. Accountable for the execution of custom order engineering (COE), VA/VE, Cost-out projects and new product introduction (NPI) projects for DTDT. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design Low Voltage Dry-Type Distribution Transformers for custom orders meeting current and applicable standards, including UL, CSA, ABS, NEMA, etc. Develop and implement NPD for Dry type Transformers (DTDT). Development of new Custom Specified Transformers ordered through COE (Flex Center Specialty Transformers) as a result of design changes, cost reduction, quality improvements, new designs, etc., using the design process. Provide Maintenance and follow-up to Order management systems, including Mapics, Excel spreadsheets, Vista. Design Transformers for Custom orders meeting current and applicable standards, including UL, CSA, ABS, NEMA, etc. Create and Maintain updated (himself or through others) the manufacturing information (BOM,D-Spec, Winding Sequence, Dwgs) using the different documentation systems (CMS, D-Spec, AS-400, Vista, Mapics, ECN, Acad / Inventor … etc.) Main link between design and production departments for the various DTDT NPD products manufactured at the Juarez plant. Provide support to New product introduction spread (Variables of Pro-Launch implemented products) Manage activities: Engineering Technician and Mechanical Design to comply with the plans for implementation of new products. Provide technical support to the departments of Production Control, Customer Service, Technical Resource Center, Production, Quality, Manufacturing, Accounting, flex center and Materials. Actively participate in the implementation of improvement projects that positively impact the Cost, Quality and Cycle Time. Participate in the Corrective and Preventive Action system quality Help meet the objectives of environmental control system, know the policy and comply with the methods and procedures applicable to this function. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: English 80% Electrical/Electronic or equivalent Engineering. Transformer Design. Electro-Magnetic Design Optimized Program Service (OPS) Project and Time Management. MS Office (Excel, Access,PowerPoint) Drafting Principles, mechanical and electrical. AutoCad / Invento (preferable) Bill Of Materials Structure Knowledge (AS-400 / MAPICS). Design for Six Sigma. Product Lifecycle management ECN/ECR Industry standards for Transformers. National Electric Code (NEC). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Communication skills Spoken and Written English / Spanish. Able to work under pressure. Oriented to Customer Satisfaction. Innovative. Undertake the activities identified in the methods and procedure to management activities. Able to train technicians and engineers on assigned area activities. Ensure compliance and follow-up of the EHS policy and targets Contribute to the achievement of environmental and safety goals and targets.
