You will be providing technical and electrical safety support to personnel working at ABB facilities and project and customers’ sites in all ABB Divisions in the Asia Pacific (APAC) portion of the AMEA region. Reporting to the Global Electrical Safety Manager, you will monitor electrical safety laws, regulations, and consensus standards and provides technical support and guidance to ensure compliance when changes occur.

Your responsibilities

  • Acting as the ultimate authority in the APAC portion of the AMEA Region in terms of electrical safety.
  • Communicating the annual electrical safety and health leading and lagging targets.
  • Conducting an Electrical Competency and Authorization Program (ECAP) Assessor training and ECAP assessments.
  • Conducting contract risk reviews and intervenes on customer/contract disputes.
  • Working with existing Country and Local Electrical Safety Champions and Business Area / Division HSE Managers to set goals and objectives for the implementation of the ECAP.
  • Working with Country Business Area and Division HSE Managers to identify suppliers of Arc-flash clothing, PPE, and insulated PPE and tools.
  • Conducting periodic electrical competency reviews in collaboration with Division HSE Managers.
  • Verifying compliance with electrical safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established standards and guidelines.
  • Leading all investigations of serious and high potential electrical incidents in the region.
  • Liaising with Government regulators during Government investigations of electrical incidents.
  • Conducting higher level electrical safety training for employees, contractors, and customers where required.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Management / Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred.
  • NEBOSH certified or equivalent.
  • International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health Management preferred.
  • At least five years manufacturing, project, or service experience.
  • Experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer desired.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal briefs, technical data, electrical safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical drawings/schematics and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively in interpersonal situations and before groups of employees comprised of various levels of personnel from senior executives to personnel working in the field.
  • Travel within the region will be required approximately 60% of the time.
