Here in North Charleston, SC, Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC is writing an exciting chapter in Daimler’s history as we add the first U.S. van production plant for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, in addition to our existing assembly operation for Sprinter and METRIS vans.  Our slogan is “Vans. Job Overview:
 
Checks production orders for completeness, compatibility, and accuracy. Performs electric/electronics software tests, modifications and repairs to electronical components of vans during assembly within the line. Assists with preparation of assembly for customized orders.  Performs root-cause analysis to problems, creates quality reports and report requests for production. Identifies the dirt point and ensures the clean point of the issue at the production line.
 
Responsibilities:
 
- Assists inline electric reworker with preparation of customized orders, and checks for completeness and accuracy of the installed electronic/electric components.

- Must perform the assembly of the electrical system according to the functional plan and at times perform moderate mechanical rework in order to complete electrical rework.

- Participates in drafting of corrective measures. Carries out function checks.

- Knowledge of Mercedes-Benz Software (IS VISU+, VANIS, Dialog) is a plus.

- Responsible for diagnosing electrical errors.

- Performs failure analysis and repairs to electrical parts of the vehicle. Selects best option from a set of defined procedures / solutions. Non-routine issues may be escalated to 3rd Level Support.

- Capturing of data related to identified failures and generating tally sheets used for reporting purposes on a daily basis.

- Awareness of the hazardousness of mechanical fluids which are required for operation of vehicles. Able to work in confined spaces.

- Understanding of how to identify the correct part numbers and hardware for a specific vehicle.

- Works under broad supervision

- Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings

- Will perform other duties as assigned

- Might perform routine maintenance and repairs on vans to support the production line.

Qualifications:


- High School Diploma or GED

- Required: 4+ years relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 3 years relevant experience; OR Relevant associates degree + 1 year relevant experience

- Preferred: 5+ years relevant experience; OR Relevant certificate + 4 years relevant experience; OR Relevant assoc. degree + 2 years relevant experience

- Able to perform the essential functions of the job

- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, electronics, quality methods and concepts

- Experience in automotive manufacturing

- Experience employing manufacturing quality methods

- Experience in the IT systems is beneficial (DIALOG, IS VISU+, VANIS, QSYS).

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Metris van was added to the assembly line in 2015.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC announced in March 2015 that it will invest $500 million in construction of a new Sprinter production plant, in addition to an expansion of existing operations. In July 2016, MBV officially broke ground on the site of its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade.
More than 112,000 Sprinters have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.
