Job Description
Eaton’s Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure division is hiring for an Electro-Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This position will be based out of our Ottawa, ON or Montreal, QC facility. Position Overview: Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor or Test Bay Supervisor, this position interprets shop packs in order to mechanically and electrically; assemble, fit, wire, install prefabricated parts and modify existing components, following prescribed assembly drawings/standards, from basic to advanced components, sub-assemblies and structures, as applicable to all product lines. This position will also assist in the performing of customer acceptance and standard factory testing of uninterruptible power systems, under the supervision of the Test Bay Supervisor. In this function you will: Responsibilities related to People collaboration; Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork Assist with on-the-job training of production staff on assembly and wiring practices Advises local leadership when required product assembly duration cannot be met Communicate and resolve schematic issues/concerns/errors with the Engineering team Responsibilities related to Process, Continuous Improvement, and/or Development; Embraces and assists in the deployment of all corporate initiatives such as Lean (ie. 5S), MESH, EBS Work with the team to meet continuous improvement targets ie. Productivity, Quality, Safety Expected to understand the order, drawing, material and volume seasonality as well as factory supplies Participates in weekly review meetings and production planning with functional leadership, as applicable Generate CSA report and print new CTO labels for assembled cabinets and schedules CSA for cabinet inspection Responsibilities related to Operations and/or Development; Work to standard operating procedures, bill of materials, manufacturing information, and instructions from Supervisor to complete assembly and wiring Pick parts required from Customer Order and use Kanban to complete assembly. Resolve shortages (check, allocate and adjust stock), if any, with Supervisor as required. Assemble UPS, battery systems, and miscellaneous components, ensuring torque connections are correct as per schedule for product Determine wiring sequence, overall layout and location of components to drawing Use various fixtures, gauges, and assembly tools to assemble and adjust product Setup and energizing for the purposes of battery recharge. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Able to make use of all equipment and machinery for assembly of custom design products Perform other duties as required When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Basic (Required) Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the Canada without company sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: Certified Technician, C.Tech. designation. 5 years experience in mechanical assembly, power and control wiring Position Criteria: Understands mechanical and electrical theory, techniques, concepts, practices and some testing requirements Effective communication / interpersonal skills Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision Excellent troubleshooting ability and problem solving, organizational skills Basic computer skills, using MS Excel and MS Outlook Knowledge / experience with hand and power tools Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics Understands CSA manufacturing techniques, requirements and mechanical and electrical theory We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
