Job Description
We are looking for a member of our logistics team focused on digitalisation to monitor the correct documentation of shipments exported outside the EU. We expect our new colleague to be able to make independent decisions and solve tasks in the assigned area, but also be a good team player, as this position requires coordination of assigned topics with colleagues who handle another part of the logistics process (freight) Export documents are processed electronically in the form of EDI messages for most shipments at Siemens. Your task will be to take care of shipments that have been evaluated by internal systems as erroneous, and the necessary customs documents may either be completely missing or have some deficiencies. Your task will be to correct/agree with the parties involved in the customs procedure to correct all these errors. On a daily basis, you will be communicating by phone and email with contracted global carriers from all over the world, with Siemens manufacturing plants that are mainly located in Germany or other EU countries, as well as with customs authorities within the EU to clarify what needs to be added or corrected in the documents. What will your job entail? You will be tasked with finding the causes of problems in customs procedures and resolving them. Based on your experience, we expect you to work with Siemens divisions to take action to address the root causes of these errors. As part of this role, you will communicate extensively with all stakeholders: With the shipping companies, from whom you will need to request PDF backup documents in the event of electronic transmission failures and requests. Siemens internal customers (Siemens Business Units) with customs authorities throughout the EU with teammates in the Czech Republic and Germany responsible for other parts of the transport chain with IT support for the regular reports generated, for checking error messages and for troubleshooting errors in transmissions You should be a process-oriented person with an eye for detail for the following reasons: You will be tasked with analysing large volumes of electronic transport documents to meet EU export criteria and continuously monitoring the quality of electronic transport documents for Siemens. You will interact with (among others) customs authorities You will report regularly to internal customers You will regularly inform internal customers of potential errors in the process and overall data quality of the carriers they use You will suggest improvements and streamlining of existing processes to comply with all regulations As a suitable candidate, what you should meet: We require a very good knowledge of German (B2/C1) for daily communication with customers and customs in Germany.
