Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Embedded Software Engineer to join our Sustainable Automation Solutions Research Group and support our Siemens business units and end customers in the US. The right person will have a strong technical background in embedded system technologies with passion for working with customers and solving challenges in manufacturing industries with innovative solutions! The Challenge In the role as Embedded Software Engineer, you will Develop sophisticated, high-performance embedded software stacks, (C, C++ / C#/ Java / Python etc.) for RTOS and protocol stacks Deploy high-speed applications on resource-constrained Edge devices in real-world environments (e.g. Food&Beverage, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics, Battery, Semiconductor industries) Design, implement, test, optimize, and document software components and HW setups for stability, usability and performance Work with other Research Scientists, Software Developers, industry customers, business units, research institutes, system integrators and universities on developing end-to-end solutions involving HW resource access, high-speed connectivity, robotics, simulation, computer vision, predictive analytics and automation and system integration Solve the most challenging and scalable use cases in building and factory automation together with a motivated team of technical, industry and business experts to make proof of concepts ready for industry-grade applications, complying with industry-standard software and standards Complete technical solution co-creation for the development and implementation of customer solutions, ideate, architect, design, implement and deploy end-to-end systems The Candidate Qualified candidates will have: BS required in Mechatronics / Electric Engineering / Computer Science, or related fields. MS is a plus. 8+ years of experience in embedded software development (C, C++ / C#/ Java / Python). and deployment of applications in robotics and automation domain 5+ years of hands-on experience in shopfloor deployment, integration and commissioning in real world environments 3+ years of experience with Siemens HW & SW solutions (Totally Integrated Automation portfolio, PLC & HMI Programming) Strong expertise in data acquisition and database systems, and industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, S7, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT) Strong expertise with Linux development environments, docker & Kubernetes development and deployment Experience working with industry customers, scoping and scaling solutions Proficiency in common software development processes and architectures Real-world problem solving and a hands-on, can-do attitude Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication (verbal & written) skills in English required. Capable of presenting complex technical topics in a clear and structured way Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic and international team with a strong customer service orientation Successful candidate must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US Export Control Law.
