Job Description

The Gloucester Emergency Response Team (ERT) Coordinator will provide hands-on subject matter expertise and leadership in support of Applied Materials’ emergency response program. This position will collaborate with individuals from all departments globally to implement, maintain, and execute the emergency response team programs for Applied Materials in Gloucester/Newburyport, MA

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop, coordinate, and advise the site volunteer Emergency Response Team (ERT) programs.
  • Develop policies, standard operating procedures, templates, standards and documentation in support of the deployment, management and sustainability of the global ERT program in coordination with Global ERT team based in the corporate headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
  • Develops and conducts regular emergency response ERT exercises and drills.
  • Complete and reviews comprehensive incident reports and QA ERT incident reports written by other program members.
  • Develop and manage budget reports for ERT program.  
  • Professionally interface with local outside emergency services, company management, employees, and ERT volunteers.
  • Responds to alarms as a member of the onsite Emergency Response Team; performs a variety of functions, including, HAZMAT Technician, First Aid provider, and Incident Commander.
  • Responds as part of a medical team to bring basic medical care to employees, and visitors at Applied Materials.
  • Participates in daily training exercises and classroom lectures and prepares and conducts trainings for department, when assigned.
  • Respond to emergency incidents on campus to stop the emergency and mitigate risks to people, facilities and the environment as well as assume Incident Command (IC), if first on scene.
  • Ensure appropriate internal and external notifications are made in a timely manner during emergency incidents
  • Perform required inspection and maintenance of ERT equipment and supplies.
  • Develop and write administrative and/or response related procedures as required.
  • Provide ERT training for medical and hazardous materials response to SCLA volunteer team members.
  • Provide emergency response and preparedness training as well as awareness communication for all employees.
  • Ensure that all site Emergency Response plans, activities, and operations are carried out in compliance with applicable local, state, federal regulations and laws.
  • Effectively coordinate and manage assigned ERT programs or projects.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidates must have authorization to work in the USA (Required).
  • Occasional travel 25%.
  • OSHA HAZMAT Technician Level (HAZWOPER Technician)
  • Strong program management and execution skills (Required)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Required)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ work experience in professional or volunteer emergency response team or disaster response.
  • High school diploma (Required) and BA/BS in Emergency Management, Business Resiliency Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field. (Preferred).
  • Discipline to solve complex problems, with the ability to resolve issues and drive solutions that create win-win situations
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to navigate complex organizations
  • Successfully complete physical examination as specified by Applied Materials prior to any offer (Required)
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current 1st aid and CPR certification and demonstrated experience (Required) and Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) (Preferred).
  • Incident Command System (ICS) course 100 and 200 required and on the job ICS experience (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of Federal and State safety and environmental-related regulations (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with Hazardous materials response Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) “levels of protection” (required). Hazmat Technician or Fire Department Firefighter I (Preferred).
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment or equivalent high hazard environment (Preferred).
  • Background and training in chemistry, toxic gas systems and wastewater, also familiarity with chemical hazard classes for common gases and liquids (Preferred).
  • Experience conducting formal inspections, e.g., hazardous materials or safety equipment (Preferred)
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to write technical documents.

***Due to 24/7 schedule, you may be required to work off-hours and weekends or called in for emergency incidents.
