Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Engagement Lead, are to: 

 

  • Ensure that employee engagement, local relationships and public policy are aligned with the vision and strategy for Plant Breeding Partners with the site leadership team to craft site’s strategies for employee engagement and internal communications relating to compliance, safety, strategic initiatives, etc.;
  • Coach team members in generating and developing compelling written, verbal and visual content;
  • Manage public-facing communications for site reporting, media and social media and crisis management;
  • Collects various types of data to analyze the effectiveness of communications, media relations and social media tactics and use these data to influence Bayer Crop Science Communications teams and make changes to improve outcomes;
  • Facilitate the site’s existing Community Advisory Panel, ensuring that its membership reflects the surrounding community and that content reflects community and site priorities;
  • Develop and execute the local outreach strategy and provides outreach support for other sites in the region which includes support of local outreach and customer support efforts, develop and annually refresh onsite tour content and coordinate all onsite tour activities;
  • Lead in the overall development Breeding’s tour programs;
  • Manage community relations for Bayer in Pima County which includes maintaining relationships with local agricultural allies and state and local leaders in the public, private and non-government sectors;
  • Track current and emerging political activity at the city, county and state level while developing and executing policy strategy that benefits Bayer’s local operations;
  • Engage directly with state and local policymakers, regulators, industry stakeholders and key opinion leaders to shape policy and dialogue in Pima County;
  • Serve as a local expert who knows community dynamics, personalities and monitor on the ground events and sentiment and represent Bayer in state and local trade associations;
  • Participate in development of the overall Breeding outreach and planet impact strategy;
  • Develop strategies and lead local and regional initiatives for social responsibility and environmental sustainability;
  • Develop and execute the site strategy for recruiting local talent;
  • Provide support for recruiting out of western US universities for all Bayer roles;
  • Manage the budget for Marana outreach efforts, communications subscription accounts and vendor relations;
  • Organize site photo and video archives.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s Degree with at least two years of professional and related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years’ experience (Experience in Local or State government, Public Affairs/Public relations or Community Organizations);
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders on key policy decisions;
  • Experience in crisis communication;
  • Experience working with local government, news media or other public-facing organizations;
  • Demonstrated understanding of local jurisdiction's political and cultural environments;
  • Experience in planning and executing media outreach campaigns;
  • Strong local media contacts;
  • Valid driver’s license. Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers.

 
 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience in science and technology journalism.

 
Domestic relocation may be provided for this role.
