Come help us invent the future of audio performance!  Bose Corporation is seeking a talented and experienced audio systems engineer to join Consumer Electronics Applied Research.  You’ll join a passionate team of DSP, Acoustics and Tools engineers working together to invent, develop and integrate technology that enables the future of our Consumer Electronics product line. By applying your audio systems engineering know-how, you'll help to enable astonishing audio rendering and voice capture experiences on out-loud and personal audio form-factors.  A successful candidate for this role will have solid engineering fundamentals, a passion for audio, experience in tuning complex audio systems, intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on engineering of audio rendering systems

  • Invent and mature audio system technology that delivers remarkable performance and value to our CE customers
  • Design and characterize out-loud and wearable acoustic systems
  • Optimize signal processing block architecture and tune to meet system goals
  • Apply advanced analysis and modeling tools to optimize design
  • Integrate designs with third-party audio technology
  • Provide demonstrations and support technology hand-off to product engineering

Hands-on engineering of voice capture systems

  • Enable novel voice-capture technology that delivers astonishing customer experiences on out-loud and wearable hardware
  • Using proprietary design tools and technology, design high-performance mic array configurations
  • Configure and tune signal processing blocks to optimize voice capture for VPA and communications experiences
  • Characterize system components as well as end-to-end voice capture performance
  • Provide demonstrations and support technology hand-off to product engineering

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Teamwork mindset and passion for audio
  • Solid engineering fundamentals
  • Deep expertise in Acoustics
  • 10+ years of audio product development or audio research experience
  • Experience in all aspects of loudspeaker design – modeling, prototyping, measuring, DSP tuning and critical listening
  • Voice capture or phased loudspeaker array design experience preferred

Additional desired skills:

  • Voice-capture signal processing: beamforming, acoustic echo cancellation, voice activity detection etc.
  • Knowledge of psychoacoustics and speech quality evaluation
  • Headphone or wearable audio design
  • Familiarity with Matlab Simulink
  • Active musician or sound engineer

Education:

  • BS in Engineering or Physics required, MS or PhD in Engineering preferred
