The SDES Data Engineering - Senior Engineer role is responsible for building data management solutions & applications on one or more Big Data platforms.  This role underpins the BI & data platforms, applications, data and process integration delivery functions by providing support services and platform life cycle management. This role underpins the AZ platforms and business applications estate from a middleware perspective.  The SDES Data Engineering - Senior Engineer role essential and must have specializations include:

Candidate Focus & Challenge

• Works with preferred third-party suppliers to provide strategic and innovative technology solutions aligned with AstraZeneca business needs as well as regulatory requirements
• Work with peers to grow the capability with AstraZeneca’s Global Technology Center
• Works collaboratively with Customers and Internal Stakeholders to address issues and ensure that objectives remain aligned to the business plans
• Ensures Application development lifecycle maintenance needs are identified and managed
• Maintains awareness and knowledge of industry trends and proactively identifies and drives identification of opportunities to be leveraged in Data engineering services and solutions
• Provides technical expertise, direction and support to engineers, architects, and project managers
• Leads efforts to ensure that modified solutions interact appropriately, areas of impact are considered and addressed and meet performance requirements
• Plans all activities associated with implementation and maintenance of solutions
• Learn, evaluate and conduct proof of concepts on new technologies as they emerge and that are pertaining to AZ environment
• Serve as the key technical resource for the team providing advice, training and technical support for various project initiatives and day to day operations

Candidate Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• 6 ~ 8 years of progressive Application development experience in the ETL & Data engineering space
• Engaged in e2e lifecycle activities of an ETL & Data engineering application Architecture, Design, Build, Test & Maintenance

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong knowledge and experience working with ETL & Data engineering solutions
• Experience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed

Desirable

• Master’s Degree
• Demonstrated leadership skills interacting with senior leaders
