The Foundation Power team is seeking a motivated, experienced Design Evaluation Engineer to support our Industrial Multi-Market Business Unit at ADI’s Silicon Valley Headquarters in San Jose. The Foundation Power team develops next-generation references, LDOs, and monolithic boost & buck/boost regulators. Our team of 25 IC designers, mask designers, and design evaluation engineers work in various sites in the USA, with the largest concentration in Silicon Valley. As part of the industrial multi-market business unit, we make best-in-class general-purpose products that service all markets and application-specific products servicing the industrial market.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Perform IC characterization at bench level, initial operating review of the silicon for the design team, troubleshooting and early silicon bug reporting, correlation, data review, and summary reports
  • Develop all the hardware and software necessary to characterize newly designed silicon fully and to perform all the analyses required to validate the design and characterize its performance
  • Create PCB schematics and layout for DUT characterization
  • Develop routines and GUI in C#/LabVIEW/Python to automate bench test equipment for IC validation
  • Develop characterization solutions and interface with the DUT for using a variety of interfaces SPI, I2C, USB, UART, GPIB
  • Plan and execute the bench test for the device. Plan all the pre and post-silicon activities.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional multi-site test, design, applications, and business team alongside other design evaluation engineers globally
  • Work seamlessly through aggressive project schedules
  • Duplicate customer issues, support failure analysis by identifying the root cause, and perform experiments toward resolution

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE with semiconductor or IC design coursework
  • Experience with lab equipment like DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, etc
  • Experience with automation of lab equipment using languages like Python, LabVIEW, or C++
  • Experience with design or data processing programming languages like MATLAB and VHDL/Verilog
  • Experience with design and PCB layout tools such as SPICE, PADs logic, ORCAD, and Allegro
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to collaborate with global teams
  • Drive to take ownership of projects from start to finish

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with LDOs and switching power supplies
