Function / Team / Location -

Coordinate with customers and Business Analysts to determine business data reporting and analysis requirements.

Assist in internal and external customers for business decision making. Support Database Administrators and Developers to build data warehousing systems for business intelligence, reporting and analytics. Implement business intelligence solutions to achieve data reporting and analysis goals. Support the development of business intelligence standards to meet business goals.

Coordinate with the business units to identify new data requirements, analysis strategies and reporting mechanisms. Assist in design and generation of reports in timely and accurate manner. Train and guide the junior engineers in data reporting and analytical skills. Recommend enhancements and modifications to optimize business intelligence processes.

Address business intelligence queries and issues in a timely fashion. Create and execute project plans within the allotted budget and timelines. Maintain documentation for all business intelligence processes

The System Engineer for BI Engineering Services will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, utilization and support of AstraZeneca platforms (applications & supporting infrastructure). This involves establishing strong working relationships with third party suppliers and overseeing the planning, analysis, design, development, testing and implementation (including utilization) of platforms. The role will also drive recommendations on enhancements, monitoring and controlling the performance of solutions and ongoing support/ maintenance to deployed solutions, and will be specialised in specific areas of solutions engineering.

Candidate Focus & Challenge

• Defines and directs the system engineering activities and ensures that System Engineering teams deliver subject matter expertise to projects, maintenance activities and incident problem management
• Works with preferred third party suppliers to provide strategic and innovative technology solutions aligned with AstraZeneca business needs as well as regulatory requirements
• Provides technical input to business cases, Request for Proposals, supplier selection and evaluation of proposals
• Leads resolutions of risks identified in third party supplier impact assessments
• Ensures infrastructure lifecycle maintenance needs are identified and managed
• Maintains awareness and knowledge of industry trends and proactively identifies and drive identification of opportunities to be leveraged in Information Services solutions.
• Works with Architects to define business solutions, ensuring their alignment with business strategies and priorities, as well as expected target benefits
• Leads effort to plan, engineer and design solutions and oversees the design and documentation of solution components
• Provides technical expertise, direction and support to Solutions Engineers, Architects, and project managers
• Leads efforts to ensure that modified solutions interact appropriately, areas of impact are considered and addressed and meet performance requirements
• Plans all activities associated with the implementation of solutions
• Plans all activities associated with the maintenance of solutions
• Supports Incident and problem management
• Primary ownership in documenting and resolving all problem tickets for MW Application Server environment
• Participate in all operational activities/ administration activities including on-call rotation as required.

Candidate Knowledge, Skills & Experience –

• 5+ years of Application Services administration and system engineering experience
• 3+ years of 24*7 operational production support experience supporting multiple time zones/geographical regions.

Essential

• Technical or Business Degree
• Proven skills and experience managing and controlling large project
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills
• Strong knowledge and experience with Business Objects/Qlikview.
• Evidence of shaping innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation
• Excellent business acumen with sensitivity to the environment
• Experience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.

Job Dimensions –

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements for QlikView.
• Perform detailed analysis of source systems and source system data and model that data in QlikView.
• Design, develop, and test QlikView scripts to import data from source systems, data feeds, flat files to create Qlik marts.
• Proficiency with QlikView Scripting, use of complex QlikView functions, advanced QlikView Expressions, experience with complex data models and optimization of the data model for query performance to create Qlik Marts.
• Experience with QlikView sheet objects including multiple charts types, Trends, KPI's, custom requests, APIs, Scripting/Data Modeling.
• Perform quality coding to business and technical specifications.
• Usage of best practices in QlikView development and deployment.
