Job Description

The Engineering Area Manager position is located at Intel's facility in Aloha, Oregon, which is home to a thriving and complex technical community, spanning multiple process segments and teams. The Aloha Factory Operations (AFO) organization is a nexus with multiple upstream and downstream customers. We are a growing community focused on collaborative technical innovation as we play a critical role in Intel's strategy.AFO is engaged in all stages of the process life cycle from process development and tool selection, to ramp readiness, and to high volume production (including process transfer to other sites). Our consolidated and fungible charter includes all process technology nodes. AFO consists of two factories (Far Back End Fab and Wafer Sort) each one with engineering and manufacturing departments, a Factory Project Engineering department, along with Production, Yield/Integration, and Install/Construction departments.The Engineering Area Manager will report directly to the AFO Factory Manager and will work within a team of multiple Area/Department Managers. We have two Area Manager positions available:One of the open positions is the Factory Projects Engineering manager. The Factory Projects Engineering (FPE) Department charter is to lead factory infrastructure projects and programs that directly sustain and improve operational excellence and grow capacity and capability in AFO. FPE encompasses a combination of Factory Operations Sustaining Activities: CMS (Cross Module Support) and Subfab Engineering groups, Quality Management Systems, Quality Audits, Factory Support Activities (such as: C4 (controlled collapse chip connection) and Sort statistics, data analytics, commodity cost management, workforce development plus long term factory strategy, improvement and new technology interoperability and business program management. The FPE Area Manager is a member of the AFO Steering Committee, which sets the factory strategy, direction, and establishes factory culture and norms.The scope and alignment of the second position will be determined based upon process and product growth needs.The Engineering Area Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to:A functional area (or department) within the factory, owning the performance, and delivering results for their area's safety, quality, output, and cost.Leading a team consisting of several Engineering Group Leaders (each GL with a team of 10-15 engineers) plus several Individual Contributors.Establishing and evolve factory culture in alignment with staff direction.Enabling the Factory Manager to increase their scope and play an integral role in widening the factory's overall reach and capacity.Leading the execution of key programs and deliverables on behalf of the factory.Acting as a liaison with other Intel divisions, groups, and business units (facilitating collaboration and cultivating change and influence across organizations).Driving effective staff meetings, decision making forums, and meetings ranging from working level to senior-management staff level and other corporate divisions with prioritized topics and agendas designed to support business goals and objectives.Developing the skills and expertise of your team.Partnering with other factory and VF (Virtual Factory) managers to ensure seamless business execution and development of new processes and capabilities.The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:Teamwork and collaboration skills.Self-motivated and have the skills to take and give multiple inputs/directions (plus prioritize according to factory and organizational needs).Demonstrated skills as a "change agent" to evolve organizational culture.Interpersonal and relationship building skills.Leadership skills (as a leader/manager of other managers).Results oriented and capable of synthesizing complex information into clear messages.Experience with processes, tools, troubleshooting, and problem solving.Understand and communicate throughout (up and down) an organization.Lead complex problem-solving teams and task forces.Make decisions without all the desired information available at hand.Business-partnering influencing skills.Attention to quality and detail.Handle high degrees of task and deadline pressure and provide technical and tactical direction.Organized, assertive, resourceful, and independent.Provide leadership beyond the AFO factory (lead in the broader Virtual Factory network).Leading problem-solving efforts and exerting influence with other organizations and management.Provide technical and tactical direction.Team building capability.Listening, written, and verbal communication skills.#LUT


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Qualifications listed as preferred or additional will be considered a plus factor for applicants. Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must possess a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field of study. 5+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing management, or technical leadership role. Preferred qualifications: Experience with wafer equipment and processes. Analytical project management experience.

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
