Position Overview: Eaton Corporation’s Digital Office has an opening for an Engineering Director, Digital Solutions, who is passionate about developing and managing a high performing engineering organization focused on developing best in class software applications for the EMEA markets. In this role, you will manage the execution and elevation of our digital design and software development teams in the EMEA region and be responsible for deploying solutions regionally within our Brightlayer digital platform, including cloud, edge, data science, and connectivity APIs/components for Data Center, Industrial, and Utilities segments. This role shall partner with Eaton’s Energy Transition and Digital initiatives in EMEA while functionally reporting to EMEA VP of Engineering. We strive to deliver dependable, simplified, and best-in-class software applications to help utilities leverage their assets and manage a smarter grid. Essential Responsibilities: Recruit, lead, manage and mentor an agile global engineering team, including technical managers, Scrum Masters, Software Architects, Developers, Testers, and DevOps, which designs, implements, tests, and supports the enterprise software applications for Eaton Brightlayer software suites. Oversee program execution and delivery of activities for Brightlayer applications in the EMEA region. Ensure programs metrics and risks are up to date for executive presentations. Present project and program status throughout all levels of the organization (including C-suite). Management responsibilities include technical facilitation, budget allocation, hiring, one-on-one meetings with directs, performance reviews, career guidance, technical capability assessments, software selection, and interfacing with internal and external partners. Develop and manage the end-to-end IoT product development strategy by partnering with stakeholders and promoting customer-centric thinking using design thinking tools. Proactively review and set prioritizations to meet stakeholder requirements. Collaborate with business partners to develop business models for Eaton’s digital monetization strategy. Provide input and represent EMEA customer use cases and requirements to Brightlayer Software Suite product development groups. Review progress of these groups and define integration points with Bright layer suite product releases. Partner with Center for Connected Intelligent Systems (CCIS) to drive the growth and utilization of platforms within our products. Champion software engagements with CCIS to drive realization of savings in platform reuse. Partner with Center for Intelligent Power data science groups to develop, implement and deploy analytic algorithms to support customer use-cases Work with service, support and IT to devise and implement monitoring and customer support plans for releases of Bright layer Industrial Manage day to day technical execution of product development initiatives across organizations in multiple EMEA locations. Provide direction to teams to address critical issues and decisions. Execute & document change management requests to respond to stakeholder’s changing requirements. Develop and refine strong project management processes around requirements gathering, software development & validation (scrum teams), testing and production support. Manage outsourcing partners as needed to augment team capabilities. Negotiate MSAs & SOWs in conjunction with supply chain management Evaluate emerging technologies, drive innovation, and manage a technical roadmap for enterprise software Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering 6+ years of experience in managing global high-performance engineering organizations Proven experience in delivering enterprise Industry 4.0 digital solutions using public cloud (Microsoft Azure ecosystem) 10+ years of experience in product development 5+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts Working knowledge of integrating with IoT-connected devices Understanding of object-oriented design and programming skills, including the use of design patterns Knowledge of CI/CD concepts, tools, and technologies and CI/CD pipelines Travel: up to 10% Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering MBA or Master’s in Technology Management Prior experience developing software for Industry 4.0, IoT connected products, creating APIs and applications (desktop, mobile, web, cloud) Experience ensuring cybersecurity practices in enterprise software and cloud applications Experience leading and coaching new and experienced software developers or engineers Experience working in the industrial markets preferably in power management and/or process monitoring space Soft Skills: Teamwork, communication, strong interpersonal skills across cultural and organizational boundaries. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences, high learning agility, great follow thru in meeting commitments. Ability to communicate with multiple groups including marketing, product management, quality, and executive leadership Strong problem solving and reasoning ability, exhibiting technical innovation and creative solutions Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills It is required to work at the Montbonnot site, the position could offer relocation / covering moving costs.
