Main Duties:

• Monitor and maintain the normal operation of all plants and equipment within the hotel to ensure they are operated in a safe and efficient manner
• Coordinate and supervise the planned maintenance activities carried out by the contractors and in-house technicians for building services, systems and equipment in order to meet the required objectives

• Lead a team of Managers, supervisors and technicians to deliver quality electrical support for the hotel property
• Direct the Managers, supervisors and technicians on routine maintenance and urgent repair works in accordance with sound engineering practices and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Closely monitor the effects of servicing and maintenance on their condition wherever possible.
• Recommends and ensures key service standards for the hotel Engineering department.
• Ensures team work with other departments such as Housekeeping, Kitchen, Laundry, for smooth hotel operation.

Administration

The primary responsibilities of the role include: 

 

1. Takes a lead role in emergencies.
2. Ensure that all records of maintenance and testing are kept
3. Perform all tasks as directed by the Management. Participate in related project teams
4. Ensures proper functioning of work request system through desk attendants.
5. Ensures proper record of leave applications and attendance.
6. Recommends changes in system and procedures to increase efficiency and improve service.
7. Assists the Director of Engineering in preparations of budgets.

Customer Service

• • To handle and resolve all guest queries and complaints in an efficient manner and to establish an amicable relationship with all clients, customers and guests of the Hotel
  • Have a good relationship with all departments and colleagues.
  • Understand, supportive, encouraging and helpful to all.
  • Ensures that customers are always dealt with courteously by engineering staff & their requests are met promptly within hotel policies.

 

Financial

• Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment;
• Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs;
• Optimizes savings in energy expenses by implementing energy conservation programs

• Monitors consumption on a daily basis and advises Director of Engineering.

• Monitors expenses on a regular basis.

Operational

• Ensures his / her area of operation meets hotel service standards of guests and other departments.
• Establishes and ensures adherence to key systems and procedures in his / her area.
• Responsible for implementations of systems and procedures which ensures safety for customers, employees plant, machinery & property.
• Ensures department employees are fully trained through constant on-the-job training.
• Reports to and keeps Director of Engineering informed of the entire major operational and staff related issues.

Personnel

Other Duties

• Interacts with Contractor / Supplier to develop new product and alternative
• Stays in contact with staff in the department, managing by example.
• Maintains open door policy and encourages team work with subordinates.

Occupational Health & Safety

• Ensures proper upkeep of fire safety system.
• Ensures government regulations for boilers, electrical installation, environmental issues etc., are strictly followed.
