Our INSPIRE program offers an opportunity to be part of Fairmont Royal York’s Engineering department as a Facility Supervisor for a period of 12 to 36 months. This is a fantastic role for an entry-level Engineering leadership individual to learn and grow their careers in one of Canada’s most iconic hotel. Be a part of a strategic Engineering team that is focused on driving successful business results through people and culture.

Our Engineering Supervisor, INSPIRE Program Participant will be working closely with engineering senior leadership, understanding department operation of many functions in a fast paced moving environment.  Additionally, they will support and learn all engineering Facility aspects and functions in collaborating with other department. This will help them understand how engineering or facility management apply to the hospitality industry business.

What you will be doing:

  • Shadowing facility manager to learn engineering day to day shift operation to deliver exceptional service for our guests.
  • Understand engineering structure, with regard to cost control, budgeting, labor forecast, & scheduling.
  • You will be involved to manage preventive maintenance schedule and work order generated by synergy maintenance management system or MMS.
  • Participates in daily pre-shift communication meeting, departmental and shift operator meeting and other initiatives programs.
  • You will be involved in departmental follow up work order meeting, learning the collaboration between department, discuss pending work order and the timeline of the resolution
  • Shadow mechanics to learn functionality of HVAC, BAS, chillers, plumbing, & electrical  and other major asset of the hotel 
  • Monitor shift operators ensure compliance in responding guest calls completion time.
  • Engage in fire life and safety training of the hotel and understanding system operation 
  • Engage in hotel wide initiatives and committees including but not limited to: Recognition, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity, Sustainability, Health and Safety, and Wellness
  • Assist the department with purchasing parts and organize store room
  • Adhere to hotel policies and regulations, building code, fire code, electrical code and other existing codes and regulations
  • Manage projects and other duties as required by the Director of Engineering

Your experience and skills include:

  • Fresh graduate from the following engineering courses: Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, electrical and computer engineer, & engineering science.  
  • Must be computer literate with advanced skills in Word and Excel, knowledge in Computer Aided Drawing would be an asset.
  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate tact and diplomacy in a highly demand skills and profession.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and pressure in a fast moving environment
