English Language Arts and Literature Teacher
Job Overview:
New Horizons is a language arts center catering to students from leading international and bilingual schools. Since 2006, we have built an excellent reputation in the Jinqiao community by providing quality education that fosters critical thinking, inquiry, reflective communication, and language proficiency. Our programs adhere to the Western education system, emphasizing literary analysis, Socratic discussion, and creative writing, while integrating elements from the Common Core Network.
We are currently seeking an experienced ELA teacher for our classes. Lessons are normally held on weekends and weekday evenings throughout the school year, and on weekdays during the summer and comprehensive time-tested materials are provided to teachers for all lessons.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential
• Be a native-English speaker from the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or South Africa
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• TEFL certification
• At least two years teaching experience
Preferred
• QTS/Teaching license
• Experience in international schools
• Candidates who hold a current teaching qualification, possess postgraduate qualifications, and currently reside in Shanghai are strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Experience of working with either the UK or American curriculum
• Effective classroom management skills
• Relevant subject matter knowledge
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Proven ability to be an effective team member, as well as the ability to work independently
• Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations
• Passion and knowledge for global education
