Job Description
Position: AP/Non-AP English Literature Teacher
- Location: Minhang, Shanghai, very close to subway Line 5 Jiangchuan Road
- Student age: 14-18 (US G9-12)
- Teaching Hours: 20*45-minute classes per week
- Class Size: AP classes 10 students max
- Class Size (Non-AP): 18-28 students
- Curricula: California Common Core & AP

- All Literature courses require the instructor to plan and deliver stimulating, dynamic, student-led lessons centered around short fiction, the novel, drama, Shakespeare, poetry and literary non-fiction.
- All Literature courses require instructors to teach students how to write in a variety of contexts, including writing a thesis, structuring a five-paragraph essay, personal reflective writing, conducting research, incorporating and citing sources, using word processors to edit and format drafts, and engaging with creative writing.
- For all AP and non-AP courses, curricula are provided; instructors are expected to adopt, adapt and update said curricula, making appropriate changes as per the instructor’s judgement and experience.
- AP Classes: AP English Literature, AP English Language or AP Seminar: English
- AP English instructors only: The school provides College Board online professional development workshops that the instructor is expected to attend.

Requirements:
- Native speaker of English
- Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in English Literature
- Two or more years English Literature (or AP English) teaching experience
- Certificate of non-criminal record
- (Preferred) Experience teaching AP English Language or AP English Literature
- (Preferred) Master’s degree in either Literature or in Education
- (Preferred) US teaching license/certification, UK QTS or similar certification
