Our location in Lake County, IL currently has an opportunity for an Enterprise Architect as part of our Digital & eCommerce organization. Abbott is developing technologies and tools to help our consumers live a healthy life. We are looking for an Enterprise eCommerce Architect, who will provide thought leadership on Enterprise eCommerce business capabilities, operating models, and solution design.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Enterprise eCommerce Architect will be responsible for translating complex problems into standard patterns, solutions, and business technology strategies. This role will architect and implement cutting edge, microservice technology solutions, mentor engineers and will act as an evangelist in eCommerce architectures and ways of working. With a focus on providing senior technical leadership, this role will be a key influencer of Abbott’s multi-channel market strategy.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical projects with a range of engineering teams to architect, build and design next-generation eCommerce technology platforms.
  • Influence and establish best practices through solid design decisions, processes and tools. Set goals, strategies, and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple technologies.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of software engineering, cloud technologies and data engineering, to define target architectures, patterns and processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring of engineering teams, working closely with architects and business leaders.
  • Develop multi-year eCommerce product roadmaps, provide the vision and work with individual architects to translate this into a tactical engineering blueprint.
  • Lead tool and technology selection. Drive standardization and reuse of industry leading technology across the organization.
  • Establishes and implement contemporary digital architectures capable of meeting a continuously changing industry and market environment
  • Translating business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for very large complex IT solutions and integrating architecture.
  • Partner with Business and IT leaders to drive eCommerce business needs, use cases and requirements.
  • Provide leadership and hands-on technical direction to deliver world class customer experiences.
  • Develop strategic microservices eCommerce framework and plans to evolve and optimize our D2C/B2B channels to drive customer engagement, loyalty and revenue.
  • Technical leadership skills in driving architecture, helping with technical trade-offs, and driving best practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Master’s Degree preferred
  • +10 years of Enterprise Architecture experience, building/implementing enterprise scale, high performance, microservices platforms.
  • Advanced-level knowledge of the following technologies: mobile/web frameworks, hybrid cloud, security and privacy, event streaming, AI/machine learning, RDBMS, NoSQL, microservices, containerization, APIs, SOA, and/or messaging
  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 6 years of eCommerce technology experience, Adobe Magento experience a plus.
  • A strong background in technical design / architecture
  • A solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and contemporary design patterns/practices
  • Prior experience developing or working with Cloud-based technologies such as Amazon Web Services is required
