In this role, the Enterprise Architect - Application Rationalization, is accountable for the technical leadership needed to build, operate and maintain an application modernization/migration/rationalization pipeline using the AWS “6-R’s” approach. This role will also help to drive adherence and alignment to Amgen’s SDLC process across the global application developers and support teams. The Enterprise Architect - Application Rationalization is a part of Enterprise Architecture team in the Office of the CIO, and has the technical skills required to advance Amgen’s digital innovation goals and has knowledge of application architecture best practices.


    Key Activities for Role include:

    • Provide technical leadership for the Application Rationalization product team, building and maintaining an application pipeline to optimize Amgen’s application portfolio (~2,000 apps)
    • Accelerate migration to the cloud and increase the adoption of our enterprise platforms and devops framework as foundations for application development 
    • Providing technical leadership to application development teams
    • Drive SDLC adherence across our global software development teams
    • Support Chief Enterprise Architect and Sr Enterprise Architect as needed to deliver critical business imperatives.
    • Domestic travel up to 10% may be required in the future


    Basic Qualifications:

    Doctorate degree
    OR
    Master’s degree and 3 years of Application Architecture experience
    OR
    Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of  Application Architecture experience
    OR
    Associate’s degree and 10 years of  Application Architecture experience

    OR

    High school diploma/GED and 12 years of  Application Architecture experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering secure, scalable and reliable application migration solutions using AWS “6-R’s” approach (Re-host, Re-platform, Re-architect, Re-purchase, Retire, Retain)
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience using two or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, Swift/Objective C, Python, Go, C#, or JavaScript
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience supporting Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) standards, preferably in Life Sciences, Pharma or Fintech regulated environments
    • Minimum 1 year experience using AWS cloud services such as Docker, Lambda, CloudWatch, CodeBuild, CloudEndure, DMS
    • Minimum 1 year experience with TOGAF or Scaled Agile architecture practices
    • Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and with peers
    • Ability to self-start and effectively operate within a large, complex and dynamic corporate environment
