Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager Job Description

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure a safe workplace for employees, contractors and visitors while ensuring compliance with applicable US, Massachusetts, and local Wilmington regulations. This role covers the ADI Wilmington headquarters campus (including semiconductor manufacturing, labs, and office space), and ADI Chelmsford module assembly and labs.
  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and overall governance of site/Corporate Safety procedures.
  • Maintain conformance to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, as well as the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct.
  • Liaise with 3rd party compliance and regulatory bodies including the US EPA, MA DEP, MWRA, DHS, Wilmington Fire Department, and OSHA as needed.
  • Develop ongoing strategy to address new site hazards or requirements, technology, staffing, capital expenses, and drive to meet ADI’s environmental goals. https://www.analog.com/en/company/corporate-social-responsibility.html#
  • Proactive implementation and management of various Environmental, Health & Safety programs including confined space, respirator qualification, lock-out tag-out, fall arrest, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, job hazard analysis, industrial hygiene monitoring, equipment safety sign-offs, hazardous waste, radiation safety, laser safety, biohazard safety, emergency/incident response, etc.
  • Provide quarterly metrics update to both Site Leadership team and Global EHS team
  • Supervise a team of EHS professionals as well as onsite contract support personnel.
  • Manage site Occupational Health and screening programs.
  • Manages safety reviews for work activities and recommend safe work practices and PPE requirements; works cross-functionally with Manufacturing Leadership, Lab mangers, & Facilities personnel to ensure safety issues and concerns are addressed and mitigated.
  • Leads coordination of Emergency Response Team and First Aid team training to maintain readiness (equipment and training) current certifications, across 4 shifts and regular first shift employees.
  • Liaise with the Facilities team to procure and maintain emergency response and life safety equipment, and make recommendations for improvements, as necessary.
  • Produce written reports for environmental and safety programs including but not limited to Accident-Incident reporting, Insurance Claims Management, Environmental programs and corrective actions, etc.
  • Manage Dept Budget and liaise with Finance Business Partner.
  • Lead the EHS Committee to review incidents and suggestions, providing guidance to all associates to ensure all corrective actions are closed in a timely manner.
  • Provide support and coaching to managers in the resolution of H&S issues.
  • Support COVID19 pandemic response, coordinate site leadership team to address changing requirements, track protocol compliance, create site communications and training as necessary.
  • Develop and/or maintain site employees’ EHS engagement through wellness and environmental programs: flu clinics, blood drives, environmental programs engagement.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Job Knowledge/education: Bachelor’s degree in EHS field or related scientific discipline.

 

  • Business & Professional Skills: Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) necessary for interfacing with regulatory agencies and other interested 3rd parties.  Strong oral, presentation, written communication, planning, and organizational skills; Good time management and project management skills.  Able to complete tasks within designated time frames. Must be able to demonstrate depth of problem solving, analytical, and investigatory skills; and the ability to prepare thorough reports and offer corrective actionable items. Adaptable to a variety of technology systems for data management, personnel files, file sharing & collaboration, etc. It is a versatile and demanding role, which offers variety and scope for personal and business development.

 

  • Leadership/Influence Skills: Must be able to take on/initiate technical projects and bring to fruition in a timely and cost-effective manner. Good problem-solving skills and an ability to identify and pursue new strategies on own initiative is highly desirable.

 

  • Group & Team Skills: Lead/manage team of EHS professionals. Must be able to pull necessary cross-functional teams together to accomplish desired goals and have the ability to work effectively with peers—demonstrated ability of building consensus among internal and external parties. 

 

  • Autonomy & Supervisory Skills: Ability to work unsupervised and independently. Must be able to work to regulatory and business deadlines. Ability to set priorities for multiple tasks.

 

  • Additional Requirements: Must be available to interface with night shift workers for training and issue resolution at least quarterly. Must be available or plan coverage for any incidents that occur during 24/7 manufacturing operations.
