Micron’s Taiwan sites include sales and technical support in Taipei along with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Taichung and Taoyuan that together comprise the company’s DRAM Center of Perfection. The Center’s goal is to achieve the most efficient and effective technology transfer and manufacturing ramp by combining front- and back-end manufacturing, product engineering and technology development roles.

Job Description

The EHSS Environmental Manager is responsible for delivering cost effective processes that ensure regulatory compliance and protect company assets (people, property, time) that are consistent with Micron’s greater business strategy. Primary job responsibilities include:

Establishing and implementing a process that sets measurable goals, objectives, targets, and strategies for Environmental performance. This process must result in objectives that are consistent with, and integrated into business partner plans.

Leading and managing the Environmental department staff in providing counsel to internal business partners on the implementation of company policies, procedures and Safety regulatory requirements. The objective is to ensure regulatory compliance and implement safety practices that provide the greatest return on investment.

Ensuring Environmental resources are adequate to accomplish the organization’s objectives. This includes managing (forecasting, budgeting, implementing, monitoring) of those resources.

Developing processes that monitor the internal and external environment for changes that may impact Micron’s Environmental strategy. Responsible for managing change including initiating, implementing, monitoring, and adjusting actions to change as well as role modeling change.

Represent Micron interests to external partners on matters pertaining to Environmental regulatory compliance and asset protection.

Developing Environmental staff so that there is a succession plan that ensures the viability and contribution of the EHSS function to the company’s business

Responsibilities and Tasks

Manage Environmental Engineering Group

  • Resolve intensified incidences
  • Maintain communication with Production areas to ensure that present and future needs are being met or exceeded
  • Ensure that daily operations, maintenance, or foreseeable equipment failures do not affect production
  • Coordinate with facilities engineering regarding system design
  • Review vendors as needed to improve systems and processes
  • Work with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance to identify areas to improve system efficiency

Ensure Micron Environmental Compliance and ISO 14000 Certification

  • Maintain adherence to company policy
  • Ensure department operations align with applicable outside agency rules and regulations
  • Coordinate with internal legal and corporate EHSS to ensure correct policy interpretation
  • Monitor and update team on changes in compliance understanding, as needed
  • Ensure Micron team members receive appropriate training based on city, state, and/or federal agency requirements
  • Maintain effective relationships with external regulators and industry peers
  • Represent Micron with external inspectors during onsite regulatory inspections
  • Ensure timely closure of identified environmental regulatory concerns
  • Obtain and maintain compliance with environmental permits and associated requirements
  • Develop and maintain effective environmental management systems

Manage Area Finances

  • Manage departmental financial budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing expenditures
  • Develop and maintain a department expense budget
  • Review and update rolling budget quarterly
  • Work with purchasing for 2nd sourcing and negotiating terms
  • Find opportunities to reduce or optimize costs
  • Participate in costs reduction/Zero Cost Based Analysis (ZBA) teams
  • Evaluate expenses based on production, cost, lead times, on-time-delivery, and inventory reduction
  • See opportunities to reduce utility usage
  • Review trends in spending and correlate with forecast to determine budget
  • Coordinate efforts to Corporate plan
  • Participate on capitol budget, as needed

Provide Environmental Expertise

  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies
  • Participate in R&D of new systems, methods, and technologies
  • Provide regulatory interpretation to ensure compliant design and construction
  • Review engineering methods and standards with Production, R&D, Facilities, to ensure environmental compliance
  • Manage environmental compliance efforts with all affected groups
  • Participate with external negotiated rule makings to shape regulatory development

Education

Required/Bachelors Degree

  • Engineering - Environmental

Desired/Masters Degree

  • Engineering - Environmental

Experience

Required/8 years experience in any of the following:
