The Emerging Contaminants Research Group (ECRG) of the School of Environment, Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) invites applications for positions of
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY OF EMERGING CONTAMINANTS
We are looking for highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researchers who have interest in the environmental science, technology, policy and control of emerging contaminants (e.g. pharmaceuticals and personal care products, endocrine disrupting chemicals, new persistent organic pollutants) such as monitoring and risk analysis, behavior and degradation mechanisms, physico-chemical treatment technologies, policy studies, etc. Specifically, the postdoctoral researcher will deal with one or more of the following research directions:
- Environmental pollution characteristics, source apportionment, multimedia fate, risk assessment and control of emerging contaminants.
- Trace analysis of emerging contaminants (e.g. PFASs, dioxins, PPCPs, antibiotics) for understanding their source emission, contamination and fate.
- Strategies for POPs Convention implementation, inventory methodologies and databases, emerging contaminant screening methodology and hazard assessment models.
- Novel adsorbent preparation and application for various pollutant removal from wastewater, water, and air, combination of adsorption and oxidation technologies for emerging contaminant removal from wastewater.
- Physicochemical degradation/destruction technologies based on: electrochemistry, photochemistry, mechanochemistry, etc.
- Preparation of catalytic/reactive materials for emerging contaminant degradation in water.
Time limit for application is August 4, 2019.
Contract length is 2 years.
Requirements
1. Age under 35 years old, good health.
2. The applicant's Ph.D. graduation school should be in:
a) a top 100 university in the world (excluded China), included Environmental Science/Engineering subject ranking, according to the latest Shanghai Ranking’s Academic Ranking of World University, Times Higher Education World University Ranking, QS World University ranking, or U.S. News World University Ranking.
b) a top 3 university in a country along the Belt and Road Initiative (see Additional information below for country list).
c) a German university, if the applicant is formally recommended by the German Helmholtz Federation, according to the cooperation framework of the Sino-German Post-doctoral Exchange Project.
