Job Description
Primary functions: The EMEA Ethics and Compliance Counsel is responsible for providing strategic regional leadership in the deployment of Eaton’s EMEA ethics & compliance program, leading some aspects of Eaton Compliance programs, for independently leading (complex) investigations, providing recommendations to regional leaders, and for designing and providing compliance program items, training and communications that support Eaton Ethics and Compliance Strategy and maintain or reinforce a culture of compliance. Essential functions: Carry out all ethics and compliance responsibilities delegated. Oversee and independently manages - also complex - investigations of ethics matters. Oversee countries or region, defining the specific program applicable to these, frequently developing new concepts and solutions. Convey complex information, develops communication strategies, and persuades significantly diverse audiences. Act as a resource to employees and leaders for inquiries regarding ethics and compliance. Where appropriate, own one or several regional or global compliance initiative(s), define their components, implementation deadlines and go-to-market milestones. Develop strategy or serve as point of contact and coordinate with the Ethics Office in effectively communicating ethics and compliance policies, procedures and practices to employees through publications, training and education programs. Compile, analyze and report on matters affecting ethics and compliance, including trends and best practices for the Board of Director’ report. Act as a matter subject expert on key compliance component or expertise needed for the well performance of the tasks, such as Anticorruption, Data Protection or Employment / disciplinary laws. Design and develop all Region-specific ethics and compliance programs. Monitor and analyze regulatory updates from government agencies and determine the potential impact of any regulatory changes to both the compliance and ethics program and the business. Develop and implement internal controls, development, review and maintenance of data-driven metrics that will provide actionable insight for the continual development and effectiveness of the ethics and compliance programs. Qualifications Law degree in any EMEA jurisdiction 7+ years working and area of experience Technical knowledge: European attorney of law required. Civil or business law qualified lawyer, with significant experience in Europe / EMEA required. Any additional qualification, ideally European, eventually international, is a plus. Working experience with European labor laws is a strong plus. Experience with European works councils and employees representatives. Minimum of one - ideally two - European language(s) in addition to English required. Soft skills: A role model for integrity, cultivates an inclusive culture and environment. Will and energy to develop thorough knowledge of business operations, standards, values, code of ethics and regulations affecting ethics and compliance. Interest in developing knowledge in key compliance risk areas.
