Event Services Manager

What you will be doing: - Books function space for clients and co-ordinates and distributes applicable function details in a timely manner with attention to detail
- Builds creative menus and designs floor plans for events
- Handles requests from clients that are necessary to facilitate their function successfully, confirming electrical, internet, telecommunications, audio-visual and exhibition requirements based on discussions with clients
- Consistently offers professional, friendly and engaging service
- Prepares sales contracts, event orders and conference resumes
- Works with Sales to ensure proper coordination and distribution of applicable information concerning convention clients
- Attends and participates in related internal departmental meetings to ensure information is given and to assist in problem solving decisions
- Conducts daily walk throughs of the function areas to meet/greet clients and ensure their needs are being met
- Generates business via direct face-to-face sales calls, telephone, and written correspondence, including walk in inquires and site inspections
- Follows departmental policies and procedures
- Acts as a liaison between client and internal hotel personnel to ensure maximum guest satisfaction
- Be available as requested for special duties dictated by client's needs or those of the hotel
- Follow departmental policies and procedures including all safety policies
- Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
- Minimum 4 years Catering/Event Services or Sales experience
- Previous leadership experience with a similair role required
- Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
- Communicate thoughts, actions and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
- Strong computer skills including Opera Sales & Catering, Property Manager, Social Table, Word, Excel, Passkey
- Front Office, Reservations and Banquets experience an asset
- University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
