Job Description
Principal accountabilities
1. Project identification and planning
- In discussion with Senior Consultant / Manager / Senior Manager and clients, new projects are identified, initiated, planned and developed at concept stage.
- Project plans are fully analyzed, reviewed, discussed and approved. § Solutions to problems are identified
2. Market knowledge
- Market specific curriculum and assessment guides are interpreted and complied with.
- Projects meet specific local requirements.
3. Network and resources § Potential authors and reviewers are identified on an ongoing basis.
- Good, reliable authors are identified, commissioned and retained.
4. Effective supervision, mentoring and training
- Various stages of subordinates' work, from manuscript to bound or soft copy, are supervised efficiently and checked accurately.
- Feedback is constructive, effective and timely.
- New and inexperienced subordinates are provided with ongoing individual and small-group mentoring.
- Proactive involvement in and contribution to training programmes is demonstrated.
- Subordinates are proficient and take pride in their jobs.
- House standards are reinforced and maintained.
5. Team management and maintenance
- Teams' workflow is planned and scheduled realistically, and reviewed regularly. §
- Effective individual and team work is promoted.
- Working flow within the team is actively managed.
- Training needs of team members are identified.
6. Organization and project management
- Provision of clear briefings and delivery of materials to subordinates, freelancers, authors, audio producers, voice talents, etc. are timely. §
- Project workflow is clear and smooth. § Schedules are kept up to date and all parties concerned are fully informed of.
- Project documents are well organized and can be retrieved easily.
- In-house rewrites are largely eliminated.
- Costs are minimized.
7. Communication and cooperation
- Collaboration and communication with clients are ongoing and effective.
- Subject expertise is shared with the other functional teams.
- Professional support is provided to the Press as a whole and to the Marketing Department in particular at all major promotional events.
8. Monitoring of market and management of backlist
- Contribute to the formulation of market research plans.
- Market research is carried out in collaboration with clients and other departments.
- Market reaction to backlist titles is monitored and analyzed.
- Competitors’ materials are fully analyzed on regular basis.
- Participate actively in school visits and teacher training programmes.
9. Increase brand awareness and respect for the brand
- Oxford University Press and its product lines are promoted both during and outside office hours at, for example, seminars, book exhibitions, conferences, and school visits.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor's degree in ELT-related discipline
- Minimum five years' English language teaching and/or ELT editing experience
- Educational publishing experience, preferably in ELT
- Competitive and resilient mentality, with winning attitude
- Good analytical skills
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude to team leadership
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational skills and an ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good presentation and public speaking skills
- Meticulous eye for detail
