Executive Director, Firmware Development
LenovoKaohsiung, twnUpdate time: October 6,2020
Job Description
#### Position Description:

Lenovo Data Center Group (DCG)’s Platform Development Team is looking for an
Executive Director of Firmware Development. This is one of the most critical
positions in Lenovo’s DCG business.  Active from the first power on of a
server through the life of the product, system firmware enables every hardware
element in the server and is key to management and reliable operation of
Lenovo servers at scale in a lights-out datacenter environment.  From issue
identifying telemetry and managing cooling needs to ensuring security and
management, it all comes down to firmware.

The position reports to the VP of Platform Development and has worldwide line
leadership responsibility for a team of Directors and technical leaders
responsible for delivering feature, quality, security and end to end life
cycle management per marketing requirements and customer expectations. In
addition, this role is also responsible for strategic management oversight on
future firmware roadmaps and proof of concepts to ensure Lenovo server
offerings are ready for new industry technology curves and have critical
customer-valued differentiation.

We are looking for a strong proactive leader who can bring worldwide teams
together and ensure they are operating with maximum efficiency towards a
common goal. The job will involve working closely internally with cross
functional leaders within development, quality and service organizations and
externally with chipset vendors, firmware partners, ODMs and key customers. We
are looking for a leader with breadth of experience in x86 server design,
automation to bring agility required for high velocity execution and a proven
track record of working with partners and customers in this space.

Given firmware touches everything in a server including hardware,
OS/hypervisor, lights out, 1 to many management software, and solutions tuned
for best performance and energy efficiency, this role requires deep technical
knowledge paired with executive expertise in resource and budget planning, an
ability to react to late changes that challenge the schedules, close daily co-
ordination with organization stakeholders, and unparalleled personal
commitment to deliver the desired results.

Lenovo’s Data Center Group is a key partner to many of the world’s largest
Cloud Service Providers, who drive unique requirements and development models.
Experience in leading development efforts with CSPs and experience in open
source processes would be valuable.

Candidates can be based in Lenovo's DCG Headquarters in Morrisville, NC, USA
or the Taipei Development Center in Taipei, Taiwan (where the executive would
have an additional role as the Site Development executive) preferred.  Given
the worldwide nature of the team, compelling remote candidates will also be
considered.

Lenovo is an equal opportunity employer where we reward ownership, excellence,
compassion and a one team culture. This position provides an opportunity to be
an executive stakeholder in the Lenovo DCG journey as a WW leader:  creating
designs that solve humanity’s greatest challenges to make this world a better
place to live in, high velocity innovation with the world’s largest cloud
providers and delivering the highest levels of reliability and quality that
Enterprises demand.

#### Position Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
• BS/BA in engineering required.
•15 years or more of related work experience, with a minimum of 10 years of

Preferred Qualifications:
