Executive Director, Hotel Sales & Marketing

Executive Director, Sales is a senior leader in the NCA Sales & Marketing Organization.  The position will carry Regional Director of Sales & Marketing responsibilities for an assigned region and a selection of key hotels within the NCA Region.  In this capacity, the position is responsible for maximizing the overall sales and marketing effort within the designated region.  The individual acts as an advisor with a strategic view to the Sales and Marketing Departments of all assigned hotels and is the communication vehicle for Sales, Marketing, Public Relations and Revenue Management issues to and from the Region.

The position will also be responsible for planning, execution and management of assigned hotel transitions including the reflagging of assets, the opening of new construction and the exit of the brand as required.  Hotel transition responsibilities include sales and marketing preopening plan, budget preparation, communication and ensuring the plan is executed on property leveraging the relevant brand/region resources.

The Executive Director, Sales will also be involved in the development and implementation of new and/or improved products, tools and services or ad hoc initiatives to support hotel sales efforts in the region.

What you will be doing:

  • Work closely with the Regional Directors of Sales & Marketing and the Directors of Sales & Marketing to drive top-line revenue performance of the hotels and maximize market share
  • Monitor key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities
  • Involved in the Strategic Planning Process for each hotel – Five Year Market Segmentation Plan
  • Identifies marketing synergies within the destination, region and portfolio
  • Provide orientation, transition support and training for new DOSMs
  • Has knowledge of marketing opportunities within all distribution channels
  • Attains and/or surpasses budgeted revenue expectations and RevPAR Index targets
  • Has knowledge about the competitive set – STR Report Analysis
  • Has constant focus on all revenue streams (Rooms, Catering, F&B, Spas, Golf)
  • Assists with development of the region’s sales and marketing talent with a constant eye on identification of hi-potential colleagues and succession planning opportunities and needs
  • Ensures excellent regional communication amongst sales force
  • Quarterly management of the Sales Incentive Program, Accelerate
  • Involved in forecasting Distant Early Warning (DEW) mechanisms
  • Involved in identifying market trends and new opportunities and assists with coordination of strategies to address them
  • Ensures that sales and marketing action plans are in place for need periods, market segment, niche markets and/or special events at each hotel and as a region
  • Provide ongoing feedback for the yearly business plan
  • Conducts quarterly sales & distribution reviews with Regional Director of Revenue Management
  • Builds and maintains a relationship with owner’s, as required  
  • Champion of brand positioning and brand standards within the region 
  • Due diligence as required – Supply and Trend Analysis and Competitor reviews and assessment
  • Competitive Positioning Overview (CPO) presentation and/or provision to contributing disciplines
  • In collaboration with DOSM, RDSM, develop and execute the Communications and Driving Revenue plan (tactics by segment) meant to drive revenue from opening date
  • Implementation/scheduling of training necessary to equip the sales operation with training, orientation and standard day to day operational structure to include reporting tools and cyclical reporting submission

Your experience and skills include:

  • 8-10 years of experience in hotel/global sales environment, of which at least five have been as a Director of Sales & Marketing, with knowledge of all hotel business market segments
  • College Diploma, Business School or Hotel Management degree preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and effective time management
  • Knowledge of the relationship between process, policy, people and performance
  • Adept at evaluating, plan building, scenario planning, execution, communication and management of large projects involving multiple and dependent disciplines
  • Strong work ethics and ability to build strong internal and external relationships 
  • Proven ability to achieve objectives in a diverse and changing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical thinking with business acumen and management skills
  • Ability to lead multi-cultural business and team
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and solutions oriented individual
  • Detail oriented with a strong ability to multi-task
  • Advanced knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint-base web environment
  • Working knowledge of Opera Sales & Catering (or similar)    
  • Speaking and writing English 
  • Additional languages desirable

Your team and working environment:

  • Either based at the North & Central America Regional Office in Toronto, Ontario, or a Remote Home Office Location this position is part of the NCA Sales & Marketing team.
